I just wanted to share that my book “Dare to Bird: Exploring the Joy and Healing Power of Birds” is now available in all bookstores and online. It is also available for loan for free at most libraries. For anyone who purchases or reads a copy I am very grateful for your support. I poured a lot of love into this coffee table book, which showcases photos I took in North America (including Hawaii) and hope you enjoy it. The book deals with how birds can help those suffering from grief and loss but also the joy they bring to all and why they are worth saving. It also discusses my work with young birders and why it’s vital to mentor youth and barriers faced in the hobby for BIPOC birders, LGBTQ+ and women and why I feel we need to actively continue to work to make birding more inclusive.
In Canada you can buy the book from Indigo and Amazon and all local bookstores. I wish my parents had lived to see this day. My father knew about the book and was proud of me and really couldn’t wait to read it. Hope they are both reading it wherever they are now and see the book is dedicated to them for all the love and support they gave to me in my life.
Thanks all,

Deep within the inner sanctum of an ancient biblioteke, my 5 year old sherpa and I were granted exclusive access to stacks of knowledge only previously accessible to the privileged classes. It contained pearls of wisdom that would take a lifetime to read through. The first dusty document I rifled through was a copy of Digital Photo Pro...

I'm very excited about this one. It's a book by an Ohio author and it's a picture of my home town. And the book looks like something I'd love too.
My personal favorite, Barnes & Noble is located along "A" Street between Northern Lights and Benson Boulevards.
Borders also had an early technical advantage: a superior inventory system that could optimize, and even predict, what consumers across the nation would buy.
But in the mid-1990s, Borders lost its edge.
"It made a pretty big bet in merchandising. [Borders] went heavy into CD music sales and DVD, just as the industry was going digital. And at that same time, Barnes & Noble was pulling back," says Peter Wahlstrom, who tracks Barnes & Noble for the investment research firm Morningstar.
He says Barnes & Noble also invested in beefing up its online sales. Eventually, it also developed its own e-reader, the Nook.
Borders did not. Instead, it expanded its physical plant, refurbished its stores and outsourced its online sales operation to Amazon. 353

Thank you all for the support! Hope you will enjoy this book that I worked very hard on. I poured my heart and soul into it. It is bittersweet for me that my parents never will see this book. I am grateful my dad at least knew about the book before he died and told me he was proud of me and couldn't wait to read it. It breaks my heart he never will get the chance to. Hope he can see it from above. I have dedicated it to both of my parents.
Thanks again to all who have supported me by purchasing a copy.
when we think
of all the things
we need to
work on
or areas to
improve in
this probably
does not
cross your mind
what creeps in
and shakes
our reality?
doubt
it can be sneaky
quietly eroding
at our ability
to function
where once
we felt capable
it now can
be weakness
what thoughts
invade our
minds
questioning
our ability
undermining
our worth
we can
take the
control back
regain the
focus
exceed the
average
just put it
on a shelf
and walk away
no looking back
free yourself
be yourself

#44 - Sheep or Goat, 52 in 2015 Challenge
Tracy and I are off to New York tomorrow... many things planned, but one biggie will be The Today Show airing on Thursday (April 8th). Ahhh, looking forward it!
This little cutie spent the day with us last Wednesday while a producer from The Today Show filmed the session. We had to work, since the producer made us turn off all our noise machines and music to film... you could hear a pin drop!! Little bit of a challenge, but he was a great model. Meet Evan, just 7 days old and soon to be a star on TV!!
The book will be out tomorrow for sale, and already in some book stores… we are so excited!! Sleeping Beauties at Barnes and Noble
These red carrying bags were in Barnes and Noble on Sunday.
At first glance I wondered why they had boots under the display table.
I stepped forward to capture my old white Sperry Topsider shoe for the contrast...
Hidden away amongst the rugged West Texas Mountains is the tranquil Coal Mine Ranch. The ranch is privately owned so one must be invited, tho' what's more, is one must know how to navigate the unmarked dirt roads to arrive there. An off-road vehicle is a must, too. Once at the Coal Mine Ranch, satellite radio is the only connection to the civilized world; otherwise, expect one of the most relaxing times you could ever have in the wild.
The Coal Mine Ranch is featured in my second book, "El Paso 120 : Edge of the Southwest" which shows the incredible landscapes of West Texas, Southern New Mexico and ... well, El Paso. All areas included in the book are 120 miles or less from the City of El Paso, Texas. Upon release, "El Paso 120" went on to become a best seller and was recognized by the Texas Book Festival as one of the best Texas photography books of the year. The book is available to purchase from any major book sellers such as Barnes and Noble , Amazon or Waterstones

www.barnesandnoble.com/w/eto-takoy-gorod-sankt-petersburg... ISBN-13: 9781006658426
ran into wayne coyne from the flaming lips at Barnes and Noble tonight.....definitely a good way to begin 2008. "so, can i be one of those annoying people who asks for a picture."
not just a brush of lips as she'd done, but a kiss that scalded her tongue. The tree burst into full blooms. The garden fluttered around her. A riot of flowers shot out of the earth. She was mud-covered as he pulled back." - Fragile Eternity, Melissa Marr
I'm a book junkie, my apologies ;) Anyway! It's spring break for us in the crumbling school system! Yay!! Going to ignore the fact I need to make lesson plans until next Saturday and enjoy the break haha.
Hope you all have an amazing, happy and very cliche filled Saturday! :)

“Eventually (perhaps by the early 1960’s) those who stepped forward to carry the West Coast Landscape Photography banner were not producing art, so much as re-producing the history of art. Separated two or three generations from the forces that spawned the vision they championed, they were left making images of experiences they never quite had. If you find yourself caught in similar circumstances, we modestly offer this bit of cowboy wisdom: When your horse dies, get off.”
from here.
The obvious questions being;
—Whose history am I re-producing?
—What experiences am I photographing?
—Is the horse dead yet?
—Wasn’t the horse terminally ill to begin with?
i bring you my first image taken in new orleans with the rolleicord, after waking up to a hotel room bathed in morning light. which, to put it mildly, may or may not have been just a little too bright after our night out on bourbon street the evening before...
in other news, there are three things that i have recently fallen in love with: my rolleicord, max; the bright, loud, vibrant, slowly drawling city of new orleans; and a beautiful book of poems by natasha trethewey entitled 'bellocq's ophelia", which is set in new orleans and inspired by a collection of photographs bellocq took of women from the red light district a hundred years ago. just, buy it.
