Music for a romantic evening.

What are your suggestions?

Here are mine:

Franz Liszt, “Liebestraum No. 3 in A-flat Major” (Rêve d’Amour) performed by Evgeny Kissin.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=XsxDH4HcOWA

But, if you wish to make a strong hint at a commitment:

Mendelssohn, “Wedding March” from “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”

www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Oo4z37OUEI

Angela Gheorghiu & Roberto Alagna – « Vogliatemi bene » (Love duet. Act I) from Madama Butterfly

www.youtube.com/watch?v=EAZOETtWiqQ

And if it is a great baritone voice that makes you swoon, then, reminisce with: Dmitri Hvorostovsky singing “Kak molody mi byli”

www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUYVkR9kVDs&list=RDGUYVkR9kVD...

Puffins on Skomer Island, Pembrokshire, Wales

Still in my Puffin period! Given the title Dom suggested for my last photo I thought I'd continue the theme with the title of this one. Don't know if it's just my poor observational skills but I didn't notice another Puffin opening it's mouth like this. probably should have shot this at f/4 in hindsight to blur the other puffin...but I guess it shows there was an audience😀

The rich baritone hooting of the Barred Owl is a characteristic sound in southern swamps, where members of a pair often will call back and forth to each other. Although the bird is mostly active at night, it will also call and even hunt in the daytime. Only a little smaller than the Great Horned Owl, the Barred Owl is markedly less aggressive, and competition with its tough cousin may keep the Barred out of more open woods. One of the first things you will notice with the Barred Owl is that they appear to have no ears. They aren’t visible from the top of their head as they are with other species of owls. They are brownish in color as well as shades of gray.

The Barred Owl hunts by night or day, perhaps most at dawn and dusk. Seeks prey by watching from perch, also by flying low through forest; may hover before dropping to clutch prey in talons. The Barred Owl eats mostly, small mammals, rabbits, birds, amphibians, reptiles, and invertebrates. They are known to wade in water to catch crayfish.

The belly feathers of some Barred Owls are pink. This coloring may be the result of eating a lot of crayfish.

I found this one in the Three Lakes Wildlife Management Area in Osceola County, Florida.

I wish I could say the finch wept for me alone

from his linden branch, but he sang for the whole

neighborhood, as twilight rose on his Addio L' Amore

for some fickle Violetta gone nest hopping,

a lament so rending each trill seemed

to shatter his glass heart and the baritones

along the quay fell silent,

and whatever jubilation normally erupts never did,

not while the finch grieved and the sky filled

with pinpricks of light. I wish I could have stroked

his chest, his twin, stuttering lungs, and consoled all

who listened on our stumps and lonely boles,

remembering our own farewells to love: dark eyes,

sleek feathers, sweet wine of those who peck us blind

and flutter off. So sing, little Rodolfo, sad

Chansonnier, and let us cry with you in fellowship,

and let us cry for our mutual folly, for love which

evaporates, for passion which devours us, for

emptiness, yes, warble a note or two for the pouring

out of ourselves into others, for this dusk which

has turned the streets vermilion, for this cafe

lighting itself against the night.

Not as well known as "The Three Tenors", to be sure, this is nevertheless a formidable trio. Wait for them to come to a city near you.

Known for his sonorous baritone voice and masterful guitar work, Hans Theessink brings a rich blend of Blues, Folk, Roots, and Gospel to the stage, captivating audiences with his heartfelt and emotionally charged performances. Whether playing solo or alongside other musicians, Theessink delivers music that resonates on a deep level, with his unique slide and fingerpicking style taking listeners on a journey through the roots of American blues.

One of the many heads hanging in the Kelvingrove Art Gallery in Glasgow on the "Expressions" theme. I imagined that this man was enjoying singly loudly and joyfully while his adjacent companion was suffering from earache as a result.

Starring a young baritone bull and a lovely soprano cow. Their duet was short lived as the cow spurned the young bull's advances.

Inman Park Festival & Tour of Homes

“... takes place in Inman Park, one of Atlanta’s oldest and most scenic neighborhoods. First developed in the late 1800s, Inman Park features an abundance of historic homes and several scenic parks.

The Festival began in the early 1970s as a means to attract attention for revitalization efforts in the community. Now, it is a full weekend jam-packed with events: music, kids' activities, a Tour of Homes, a marvelous street parade, an artists’ market, not to mention some of the city’s best people-watching. It is organized annually by the Inman Park Neighborhood Association on the last full weekend in April.

A spit valve on a very old King baritone. Has not seen polish in quite some time so wabi-sabi took over. It has beauty but nothing like highly polished silver. This is not spit by the way, just cool water.

International Festival of Life Sculptures, Rehovot 2018.

Very much the baritones of the bush, one of my favourite sounds in nature is the low grumble of an elephant as it uses its trunk to break through branches, munching on the most palatable leaves. These are the famous old bulls of the Ngorongoro crater where trees are relatively scarce at this low elevation, but the grasses are more favoured among older elephants.

Despite being a widely revered creature, elephants are hugely vulnerable to poaching, habitat fragmentation and global warming. Let's do what we can to protect this iconic keystone species.

Today I was inspired to pick up my saxophone... this has not happened in almost 12 years.

I surprised myself - I actually remember where to put my fingers, what the notes were, how to play, and how to read music.... I played until my lips could play no more (which was not very long!!)

Thank you Mag.

Phil Skladowski who plays baritone sax seems to indicate that size matters. These musicians, who carry instruments like double bass or big sax, do get their work out. Phil is on the music scene for at least 15 years and plays with big bands or smaller groups. Robbie Lane & The Disciples are large group and play only about twice a month.

The vocalist Robbie Lane, is on Toronto music scene since the 60's and also has a radio show which features the music of the era.

On the photo is also Glenn Hill (harmonica, vocals).

The Disciples: Robbie Lane (vocals), Steve Shelski (guitar), Glenn Hill (harmonica, vocals), Joe Rigon (drums), Doug Balfour (piano, vocals), Phil Skladowski (bari sax), Ed Zankowski (sax), Joe Agnello (bass), Howard Moore (trumpet).

On Sunday, August 20, 2017, I went to see the ska band live with my friend invitation. I enjoyed the performance of 4 bands.

The Moldy Lovers is a rock band playing Australian gypsy-influenced ska music.

They played the most exciting performance this day.
