The Rembrandt image I have chosen for this project is the one where he recorded facing his own total bankruptcy. I love that he dressed up and portrayed himself as a king.

These three are at the beginning stage. There are two weeks of painting work to be done on them yet, and the carapace (frame, exoskeleton) of the boards will be 24 carat gold leaf, including the electrical cord.

CSX Philly Sub local B829 was approaching the then-intact Mohrs Lane overpass on a cloudy afternoon at Poplar, Maryland in 1990. A former Delaware & Hudson GP39-2 financed by CSX predecessor Chessie System recently reclaimed by CSX due to the D&H bankruptcy and takeover by Canadian Pacific was the leader.

A former Family Lines MP15AC was providing the assist on the short local freight. Today, the overpass is gone, the B&O signals replaced, the motive power repainted, and the entire scene is now a tree tunnel.

On Monday, September 30, 2019, Adria Airways filed a motion for bankruptcy.

Bankruptcy proceedings were initiated by the management of the company because of the company’s insolvency and based on the Slovenian Financial Operations, Insolvency Proceedings, and Compulsory Dissolution Act (ZFPPIPP) which obligates the management of a company in the position of Adria Airways to file for bankruptcy proceedings of the company.

Too bad ...

Aberystwyth is a university and seaside town and a community in Ceredigion, Wales. It is the largest town in Ceredigion and 16 miles (26 km) from Aberaeron, the county's administrative centre. In 2021, the population of the town was 14,640.

Located in the historic county of Cardiganshire, Aberystwyth means "the mouth of the Ystwyth". It has been a major educational location in Wales since the establishment of University College Wales, now Aberystwyth University, in 1872.

The town is situated on Cardigan Bay on the west coast of Wales, near the confluence of the River Ystwyth and Afon Rheidol. Following the reconstruction of the harbour, the Ystwyth skirts the town. The Rheidol passes through the town. The seafront, with a pier, stretches from Constitution Hill at the north end of the Promenade to the harbour at the south. The beach is divided by the castle. The town is divided into five areas: Aberystwyth Town; Llanbadarn Fawr; Waunfawr; Trefechan; and the most populous, Penparcau.

Aberystwyth is a university town and tourist destination, and forms a cultural link between North Wales and South Wales. Constitution Hill, scaled by the Aberystwyth Cliff Railway, gives access to panoramic views and to other attractions at the summit, including a camera obscura. Scenic Mid Wales landscape within easy reach of the town includes the wilderness of the Cambrian Mountains, whose valleys contain forests and meadows which have changed little in centuries. A convenient way to access the interior is by the preserved narrow-gauge Vale of Rheidol Railway.

Although the town is relatively modern, there are a number of historic buildings, including the remains of the castle and the Old College of Aberystwyth University nearby. The Old College was originally built and opened in 1865 as a hotel, but after the owner's bankruptcy the shell of the building was sold to the university in 1867.

The new university campus overlooks Aberystwyth from Penglais Hill to the east of the town centre. The station, a terminus of the main railway, was built in 1924 in the typical style of the period, mainly in a mix of Gothic, Classical Revival, and Victorian architecture.

The town is the unofficial capital of Mid Wales, and several institutions have regional or national offices there. Public bodies located in the town include the National Library of Wales, which incorporates the National Screen and Sound Archive of Wales, one of six British regional film archives. The Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales maintains and curates the National Monuments Record of Wales (NMRW), providing the public with information about the built heritage of Wales. Aberystwyth is also the home to the national offices of UCAC and Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg (Welsh Language Society), and the site of the Institute of Grassland and Environmental Research, the Welsh Books Council and the offices of the standard historical dictionary of Welsh, Geiriadur Prifysgol Cymru. A purpose built Welsh Government office and an adjoining office of Ceredigion County Council are also located in the town.

At the 2001 census, the population of the town was 15,935. This reduced to 13,040 at the 2011 census. Including neighbouring Llanbadarn Fawr, the population was 16,420, and the greater Aberystwyth conurbation had a population of 18,749 in 2011.

Many businesses large and small have failed recently due to COVID-19. I couldn't help but think about these semi-ghost towns like Alviso. It was once a blooming town in the 1920s and now they are being forgotten. Things have changed over time and we need to adapt.

In 1997, the owners of the Miami Heat of the National Basketball Association, which then played in the eight-year-old, publicly financed Miami Arena, threatened to move to Broward County unless they were given the $38 million parcel of land for the new arena by Alex Penelas, then-mayor of Miami. The agreement provided that the county receive 40% of annual profits of the arena above $14 million.

Kaseya Center is a multi-purpose arena on Biscayne Bay in Miami, Florida. The arena was previously named American Airlines Arena from opening in 1999 until 2019, FTX Arena from 2019 until 2023 following the bankruptcy of FTX, and Miami-Dade Arena during an interim period in 2023. Since April 2023, the naming rights to the arena are owned by Kaseya under a 17-year, $117.4 million agreement.

The arena has capacity for 19,500 people, including 2,105 club seats, 80 luxury suites, and 76 private boxes. Additionally, for more intimate performances, The Waterfront Theater, the largest indoor theater in Florida, is within the arena complex, seating between 3,000 and 5,800 patrons. The theater can be configured for concerts, worship events, family events, musical theatre shows and other stage productions. American Airlines, which has a hub at Miami International Airport, maintains a travel center at the venue.

The arena is known for its unusual scoreboard, designed by artist Christopher Janney and installed in 1998 as part of the original construction. Drawing on the underwater anemone forms, the scoreboard also changes colors depending on the atmosphere.

For concerts in an arena configuration, end stage capacity is 12,202 for 180° shows, 15,402 for 270° shows, and 18,309 for 360° shows. For center stage concerts the arena can seat 19,146.

WTVJ, the city's NBC owned-and-operated station in Miami, had their Downtown Miami Studios in the back of the arena from 2001 until 2011.

In 2013, the Miami Heat paid rent on the arena for the first time pursuant to the percentage rent agreement with the county; the payment was $3.32 million.

The arena is directly served by the Miami Metrorail at Government Center station via free transfers to Metromover Omni Loop, providing direct service to Freedom Tower station and Park West station stations, within walking distance. It is also within walking distance from the Historic Overtown/Lyric Theatre station.

The arena has 939 parking spaces, with those spaces reserved for premium seat and Dewar's 12 Clubhouse ticket holders during Heat games. Park Jockey manages the arena's on-site parking.

Wikipedia: The Ponte Vecchio ("Old Bridge", Italian pronunciation: [ˈponte ˈvɛkkjo] is a Medieval stone closed-spandrel segmental arch bridge over the Arno River, in Florence, Italy, noted for still having shops built along it, as was once common. Butchers initially occupied the shops; the present tenants are jewellers, art dealers and souvenir sellers. The Ponte Vecchio's two neighbouring bridges are the Ponte Santa Trinita and the Ponte alle Grazie.

The bridge spans the Arno at its narrowest point where it is believed that a bridge was first built in Roman times, when the via Cassia crossed the river at this point. The Roman piers were of stone, the superstructure of wood. The bridge first appears in a document of 996. After being destroyed by a flood in 1117 it was reconstructed in stone but swept away again in 1333 save two of its central piers, as noted by Giovanni Villani in his Nuova Cronica. It was rebuilt in 1345, Giorgio Vasari recorded the tradition in his day, that attributed its design to Taddeo Gaddi. Besides Giotto one of the few artistic names of the trecento still recalled two hundred years later. Modern historians present Neri di Fioravanti as a possible candidate. Sheltered in a little loggia at the central opening of the bridge is a weathered dedication stone, which once read Nel trentatrè dopo il mille-trecento, il ponte cadde, per diluvio dell' acque: poi dieci anni, come al Comun piacque, rifatto fu con questo adornamento. The Torre dei Mannelli was built at the southeast corner of the bridge to defend it.

It has always hosted shops and merchants who displayed their goods on tables before their premises, after authorization of the Bargello (a sort of a lord mayor, a magistrate and a police authority). The back shops (retrobotteghe) that may be seen from upriver, were added in the seventeenth century.

It is said that the economic concept of bankruptcy originated here: when a merchant could not pay his debts, the table on which he sold his wares (the "banco") was physically broken ("rotto") by soldiers, and this practice was called "bancorotto" (broken table; possibly it can come from "banca rotta" which means "broken bank"). Not having a table anymore, the merchant was not able to sell anything.

During World War II, the Ponte Vecchio was not destroyed by Germans during their retreat of August 4, 1944, unlike all other bridges in Florence. This was allegedly because of an express order by Hitler. Access to Ponte Vecchio was, however, obstructed by the destruction of the buildings at both ends, which have since been rebuilt using a combination of original and modern design.

Likino Bus Plant (LiAZ; Ликинский Автобусный Завод, ЛиАЗ) is a Soviet and Russian manufacturer of buses and trolleybuses located in Likino-Dulyov, Moscow Region. The leading manufacturer of large and extra large buses with a 60% market share. LIAZ was the first in Russia to develop and start production of low-floor buses and gas-powered buses. It was the first in Russia to develop a hybrid bus and electric bus, and started manufacturing buses to meet Euro-5 and Euro-6 environmental standards. The model lineup of the company includes a full range of city and suburban buses in 15 basic models of low-floor and half-floor buses 9.5-19 meters long and 60 modifications, working on diesel fuel, gas and electricity. Today the most popular models are the large class buses for city transportation LiAZ-5292 and LiAZ-4292 equipped with engines of ecological class "Euro-5-6".

The history of the company began in 1937 with the production of insulation boards and pressed wood which in 1944 was transferred to the production of equipment for logging and wood processing. In 1959 the Likino engineering plant was reorganized into a bus plant, where the bus production was transferred from the ZIL truck plant in Moscow (Завод имени Лихачева, ЗИЛ). The first bus to come off the assembly line was the ZIL-158. One of the most significant achievements of the plant during the USSR was the LiAZ-677 bus, which production lasted unrealistically long - from 1967 to 1994 (piece production up to 2002!). Totally 194,183 copies were made. Of course, LiAZ-677 quickly became outdated as a bus for modern cities, it had a conventional gasoline engine, a small interior with a low ceiling and a high floor, but then the role of big city buses were Ikaruses of Hungarian construction, though also high-floor. In 1975, the production was brought to its designed capacity of 10,000 buses a year.

In 1986, started a serial production of the model LiAZ-5256, which in the 1990's - early 2000's has become the main model. The economical state of Russia in the early 1990s downed bus buying, in addition to that the fire on KAMAZ motor plant completely destoyed diesel production at 1993 y. The LiAZ needed to see for new diesels and improved gearbox that was still mechanical. On another side, modern foreign city buses were very high priced. In 2000 being on the edge of bankruptcy the plant joined the company The Russian Buses. Since 2005 LiAZ the part of the GAZ Group. In 2003-2006 new bus models were developed and put into full-scale production: low-floor LiAZ-5292 (on the pic is restyled model), semi-low-floor LiAZ-5293, articulated high-rise LiAZ-6212, as well as articulated low-floor LiAZ-6213. Also the trolleybuses were developed on the basis of produced buses, but their production that started in 2005 ended by 2012. Since 2018, LiAZ mass-produced electric buses under the GAZ brand with the mark GAZ 6274, equipped with lithium titanate batteries with the possibility of ultra-fast charging in 4-10 minutes. The GAZ electric bus is designed for transportation of 85 passengers and has 27 seats.

The Likino bus plant has produced more than 290 thousand buses of various classes and purposes. Today the Russian fleet of LiAZ brand buses exceeds 33 thousand units, which is 9.3% of the total number of buses operating in Russia.

A wig-wag dances in warning while the caboose train finishes boarding ahead of its departure. Rock Island 4506 is currently going around in C&NW drag as it would have in 1981 after the Rock shut down and it was sold to C&NW, remarked, and renumbered to 4160. I've seen lingering examples of these colors surviving on grain cars but to see it fresh is really stunning. August 10, 2024.

The Clewiston Inn (also known as The Inn) is a historic site in Clewiston, Florida, United States. It is located at U.S. 27, west of the junction with CR 832, and is the oldest hotel in the area of Lake Okeechobee. On February 21, 1991, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.

The Clewiston Inn was originally built along the unprotected waterfront of Lake Okeechobee in 1926 by the Clewiston Company, the community and real estate development arm of Bror Dahlberg's Southern Sugar Company. Ownership passed to the United States Sugar Corporation in 1931 when Charles Stewart Mott formed the company and acquired the assets of the Southern Sugar Company, which went into bankruptcy in 1929. The building survived the great 1926 and 1928 hurricanes but was destroyed by a fire in 1937 and the classical revival style structure was rebuilt in 1938. The Everglades Lounge and Bar inside has a 360-degree wildlife mural featuring the flora and fauna of the Florida Everglades. It was created in the early 1940s by the J. Clinton Shepherd (1888-1975). This Palm Beach artist stayed at the Inn for many months, making frequent trips to the Everglades to sketch the animals.

A former PC boxcar now toting cereal for Kellogg's. 2007

Last day at Sears Canada store at Laurier Quebec mall. Second floor entirely empty and closed.

On what used to be my annual Christmas pilgrimage to Millinocket (aka the center of the universe) I would inquire if any trains would be running on Christmas Eve or Boxing Day. Often times there wasn't much going on, but sometimes I got lucky. Things on the Iron Roads Bangor & Aroostook System had gotten so bad that most of the power had gone back to the leasing companies. Units were purportedly repossessed as a result of the RR not paying their bills. Near the end, the bankruptcy trustee obtained a bunch of leased units from Locomotive Leasing Partners to keep the RR moving. On Christmas Eve, the northbound #212 (traditionally the train number for the road job between Millinocket and Madawaska) would make a round trip between Oakfield & Portage to work the saw mills along the way. My memory isn’t very good, but I think they may have been swapping trains in Portage with another job out of Madawaska at the time, although on this day they didn’t meet the other job. I arrived in Masardis to get my first shot and napped until I heard the train coming, when I got out to get my shot I looked over at the car and noticed that the front tire had slipped off the soft shoulder, resulting in one from wheel in the ditch and the opposite rear wheel in the air. This was the only time in my life that my car went off the road when it was parked and I wasn’t even in it! Needless to say the train crew got a big kick out of my situation. After getting dragged out of the ditch I headed for Portage where I walked into the chipper at the mill then operated by Georgia Pacific. By this time most of the once ubiquitous 40 wood chip cars had mostly disappeared although a few still remained. Two weeks later, at 0001 on January 9, 2003 after 111 years the B&A as an operating railroad was officially done.

Washington Baltimore & Annapolis Electric Railroad Brill Built articulated car #27 is at the Washington DC terminal on 12th St and New York Ave NW working as an Annapolis local. The year is unknown but most likely is from the early '30s or even from the last summer of operation for the WB&A (1935). The Brill cars were delivered in March 1927 and originally operated as express trains between Washington and Baltimore. By the early 1930s the cars were being used in local service as well as express service. After the demise of the WB&A and it's subsequent shut down on August 20, 1935, the cars, which still had a lien on them, a lien that hadn't seen a payment since the 1931 bankruptcy, reverted back to the Brill Company who then sent the cars to United Iron & Metal Company in Baltimore advertising the cars for sale. Unfortunately there were no interested parties. Four years later they were scrapped on site.

Key words I was looking for in the official statement: "Holdings will also close 142 unprofitable stores near the end of the year. Liquidation sales at these stores are expected to begin shortly. This is in addition to the previously announced closure of 46 unprofitable stores that is expected to be completed by November 2018." In other words... not 'lights out, doors locked as of Monday morning' situation like some reports had suggested with the word "immediate."

The full press release is available on the SHC website. More to come, of course. I'll edit this description again tomorrow afternoon.

EDIT: I suppose there's not much to add at this point, besides the list of closures has been released - see the link in the comments below. Locally, Sears is closing its location at Wolfchase Galleria in Cordova (Memphis). The Southland Mall location will remain open, as will the Sears in Tupelo, MS (which is where the above picture was taken, btw. I didn't do a stour here however, and moreover do not intend to do so.)

Elsewhere, I'm a bit surprised that some locations *aren't* closing, such as the aforementioned Tupelo Sears (and/or the Meridian Sears), or the Gulfport Kmart, since those are the only three SHC stores left in the entire state of Mississippi. On the plus side, I guess that means that those stores must be profitable, considering the 142 announced closing locations are unprofitable or only marginally profitable. And to be sure, the company is indeed exiting some other states with this round, which of course is entirely expected.

I am personally curious to know if the fact that some stores are leased back from Seritage played any role in the selection of closing stores; 33 Seritage stores are on the closing list (including Wolfchase) out of what I believe are 70-something total. (The exact number can be found on Seritage's website, in the letter from their CEO posted in response to SHC's bankruptcy.)

The sales are expected to continue into December (although I'm not sure whether or not they will run through the holidays themselves), with the stores closing before the end of the year. The ongoing round of August-announced closures, meanwhile, do not appear to be affected by the filing; a call to one of those stores this morning netted a response that they will be closing a few days after Thanksgiving, as planned.

Local media have finally put up articles pertaining to the Wolfchase store's closure... and the MBJ (if not others as well; I haven't checked) erroneously states that two other Sears stores remain in Memphis. That's wrong: one is a Hometown store. Those aren't owned by SHC. They are separate. That shouldn't be that hard for reporters to figure out.

The article also calls Eddie Lampert the former CEO of the company, which - as of the filing - is correct, since he has indeed stepped down as CEO... but also somewhat misleading, because it doesn't mention that he will remain in the capacity of chairman (effectively making it sound like he's leaving the company altogether, which is very far from the truth, as we all know). Come on, guys.

I want to share some news with all of you. I normally keep this private but I feel it is important for others to read, as it might help someone, someday. Never fear and fight for what you deserve.

As of 3 PM today my 4 year wait is over... I am divorced.

15 years of marriage

9 years of Hell

4 years of Terror.... Over

This does not mean I am out of danger..yes danger. I will always have eyes in the back of my head but I am free at last. The man I married is not the beast that stalks me and harasses me publicly. My marriage was rocky from day one but my father would be by my side, encouraging me.."For better or worse""in sickness and in health". Nothing prepared me for what I have gone through.

I am an educated intelligent woman, its now I finally realize that I was abused, emotionally, mentally, and yes even physically to an extent. I am a victim of Domestic Violence and the police has visited my home various times. My spouse threatened to kill me when I left him 4 years ago. Nothing like living with a man that has an M16 rifle with laser on you and your pets following you around. A man waving loaded and cocked guns at you and your pets. I'd wake up and he'd be inches from my face..I thought one day he would suffocate me or slit my throat.

He has attempted repeatedly to break into my tiny apartment. He even stalked me at the Renaissance Faire and aggressively to the point we had to leave. My husband currently has 3 criminal charges pending from an arrest on 2/27. He tried to force women (exotic dancers) who he pays for sex to move in with him, then he threatened them and attempted to run them over when they denied him. I have a 24 page police report that shows evidence of all this, I am not making it up. If you don't believe me trust me look it up..its there for all to see. He also ran his car into their nightclub..the list is long and dirty and ugly. He is ex military an expert marksmen and hoards guns and weapons of all kinds. He has attempted suicide twice. And he even has discharged a firearm inside the home, when one of his "prostitutes" turned him down. He is bipolar, an alcoholic, narcissistic and a pathological liar. He will do whatever it takes to "con" you and con women is what he does best.

I left him 4 years ago and that is when my Hell became a Nightmare. My pets were killed, my life threatened. I lost my house, I lost my car, I lost all my belongings except my clothes. I had to file bankruptcy. I have odds and ends and I was able to rescue 9 of my cats. I have moved 3 times he will always find me, he knows where I work, he knows my DOB, my SS number so nowadays we can all be found. He has been in contempt of court many times, and even knowing I have physical issues, the cancelled my insurance against a judges orders.

I won't run , and I didn't run then despite everyone telling me to run. I am a strong person, granted tired and old from all this but I am stronger than I have ever been and I have proven that to him time and again. He has battled me over this divorce for 4 years and so you know I get nothing, I gave up HALF OF EVERYTHING to save my 9 cats. Yes everyone called me crazy, but those CATS have kept me alive and I assure you I wanted to die each and every day and I prayed for God to take me. I'm not ashamed to admit it.

I want to THANK ALL of you that knew about this for so long. For listening to my litany, my tears, my pain and my most darkest thoughts. You and your prayers, your good energies, your positive emails and talks have also kept me going. There are NO words to properly express how I am feeling right now..none. I will forever be grateful to each of you and I know that a new Journey lies ahead, as I said he will always be around I just pray that I have more freedom now. In 4 years I have gone to the movies less than 5 times and I actually went to Renaissance this year, knowing I could run into him (I had not looked at his face in 4 years not even in court). It was a shock to see what he has become.

I hope now, the rest of you will understand why I am quiet, why I am fearful, why I have lost touch with all those I held close and dear, even my own family. I hope I can start to rebuild from this day forward and I pray I continue to find the courage and strength to find a new path in life. THANK YOU ALL for reading, thank you ALL for being here.

Spaulding Fibre first opened in 1911. It closed in 1992 and its owner has since been through two bankruptcy proceedings, leaving 860,000-square-feet of buildings in a very deteriorated condition.

Spaulding manufactured sheets of fibre material, a pulp composite created with heat and pressure. The material was used for a variety of products including formed athletic protection, helmets, electrical insulators, etc. Scrap material was initially made into fabricated boxes & bins.

Spaulding began operations in Tonawanda in 1873 and operated under the name Spaulding Fibre until 1988. Spaulding Composites Co. operated the plant until its shutdown in late 1992.
