Thousands of spectators packed into Memorial Park Sunday to watch more than 60 balloons take to the sky.
Colorado Springs, Colorado
The gold rush ... to the blue gold of a limpid sky !
The great rush to enjoy this beautiful sunny day !
The space is big but the ground for take off is small !
Ideal conditions to take off: no wind.

(Balloons are always very very colorful !)
Throughout the July 4th weekend hot-air balloonists from all over the country converged on our region to float en masse above the Hudson River.
The launches take off from the banks of the Hudson River soon after sunrise and before sunset.
Thank you for your comments,

Went on a fabulous omnibus photo walk/drive Sunday with karenmeyere and DaveP_MN. Had a blast shooting all kinds of different things. It was a magical day.
To show how magical; we were standing near Dave's house while he told us how they sometimes launch balloons from a nearby farm ... when suddenly he shouted, "Balloons are launching!" We all made a pell-mell dash across the highway and into the back field of the farm, where, sure enough, three gigantic baloons were on the verge of lifting off.
I've never seen hot air balloons up close before. They're gigantic! It's a real task to try to capture the sheer size of them, and we didn't have much time as they lifted off pretty soon after we arrived. But it sure was fun trying.
Much of the day was like this. Wherever we went we saw something cool. More to come!
I wasn't very pleased with the glow this year, they had way to many stadium lights on to be able to see the balloons glow nicely. This is the best glow show I could get compared to the nice ones last year.
I made it out to Palouse Washington this spring on a nice photo trip, and managed to snap quite a few pictures. I really am pleased with the way this picture came out.
On this trip I was really trying to experiment with GND filters vs HDR, to see with style I preferred for landscape shots. In most cases, I think I prefer the GND look. For but clouds and drama, nothing beats HDR.
This particular shot started as a 9 exposure HDR, and was then toned down quite a bit.
The Palouse is a fantastic place in the spring, with unlimited rolling hills, endless fields of green, and clouds that are just... amazing.
This shot is taken just off the road by Kamiak Butte.
Please, comments are welcome.

This evening when we landed, we were treated to this full moon rising.
Well, in truth, we were actually treated to this while up in the air; we saw the full moon rising above the horizen while up in the air and it was really cool looking, although I was too busy flying to try to get a shot of that.
So I got this shot when we landed.
But lately I feel like I need to get offline, not online, but offline. So I might not be online too much, I hope you'll understand.
Alright... That last photo I posted was kinda lame, so I thought I'd post something with some color. I went back through all the balloon crap back in Albiquirquee a couple months ago. You can't go wrong with an Albaquerqui Balloon Fiesta photo. Everybody loves the damn balloons!

A wonderful morning in Canberra with >20 balloons taking off! So many compositions but I like this one with 2 flames and "Nudie" fruit juices (www.nudie.com.au) in the middle. My 14mm Samyang prime was perfect to get all the balloons in frame!
