The sunrise in Cappadocia bathes everything in enchanting orange hues, painting a breathtaking spectacle.

Here another photograph from my balloon ride in Cappadocia, Turkey - this time you can see more details of the rock formations and a few other balloons below. I have tried to count the number of balloons in the air and came to more than 50...unbelievable...

we fly in balloon over the Allgäu country. In the light of the low stand sun, the hills, trees and houses cast their shadows. So the landscape also gets a three-dimensional character from the view from above.

Wide angle framing of hot air balloons, River Nile and the Theban mountain. Shot from Luxor

A hot air balloon floats gracefully above a land where light and shadows create a captivating contrast, dividing the scenery into distinct realms.

Imagine the thrill of sliding gracefully along the northern face of the San Juan Mountains. Mount Sneffels, 14,158 feet above sea level, is to the right.

Better than any amusement park ride.....

Dear friends, what to do if the weather is ugly and rainy? You could read a good book...or...browse your old photographs that I haven't watched for years if even at all...this is one of a balloon ride at sunrise over Cappadocia, Turkey in 2011...

Cappadocia is a landscape in Central Anatolia in Turkey.

The area, which is called Cappadocia, now mainly comprises the provinces of Nevşehir, Niğde, Aksaray, Kırşehir and Kayseri. One of the most famous places is Göreme with its cave architecture cut out of the soft tuff. Göreme is considered to be the center of Cappadocia, the unique complex of rock formations located there, which was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1985 as a mixed cultural and natural heritage site "Goreme National Park and the rock formations of Cappadocia".

A panoramic framing of hot air ballooning before sunrise, the most magical time of day for passionate photographers. Shot from Luxor west bank, one of the world's largest open-air museums. On the left side, two massive statues 'the colossi of Memnon' give us some scale to the picture.

Here in Australia, Sunday is National Tree Day, with Schools Tree Day being tomorrow, Friday. Organised by Planet Ark, Schools Tree Day is a time when students and communities across the country come together to plant trees, learn about the environment, and build a deeper connection with nature. As you can imagine, there are so many varied ways to get involved.

Since I haven’t been able to get out with the camera lately, I’ve taken the opportunity (one-handedly) to do some culling of the archives. This image of these very orderly trees was taken during a hot air balloon flight over the Hunter Valley wine region: a peaceful memory of a spectacular view.

Hope your week is going well! Thanks for taking a look, I really appreciate your comments and support.

Safari Sunday...

We were invited to ride in a hot air balloon in San Martin, California, located south of the San Francisco Bay Area. A friend who could not join contacted me the day before, and offered me to go instead. What a pleasant surprise! We flew over suburban landscape at about 1000 feet above the ground, and landed in a field in Gilroy, the Garlic Capital of the World.

Riding in a hot air balloon is difficult to describe, it's very different from a helicopter or a fixed wing aircraft. You ride along with the wind, e.g. it is very quiet, no wind is passing by. You hear sounds from below, such as barking dogs, clucking chickens, and kids playing. The burner is loud though, however it is operating just once in a while.

I processed a balanced and a photographic HDR photo a RAW exposure, blended them selectively, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

This is a shot I took from the hot air balloon looking back towards Charlevoix as we were floating east. We are over Lake Charlevoix then you see Round Lake and then out to Lake Michigan.

Cappadocia, Turkey

The Turkish name is Kapadokya, from Persian Katpatuka meaning "the land of the beautiful horses". The earliest record name of Cappadocia dates from the late 6th century BC.

Now it belongs to the Unesco World Heritages Sites in Asia

Came across this scene in Sedona, Arizona (U.S.).

A friend who could not join contacted me the day before, and offered me to go instead. What a pleasant surprise! We flew over suburban landscape at about 1000 feet above the ground, and landed in Gilroy in a field on the lower right behind a church. A friendly policeman came, asking if we are OK, indeed we were, and had a lot of fun!

I processed a balanced and an interior HDR photo separately from two RAW exposures, blended them for a composite image, taking one for the basket of the balloon, and one for the urban landscape. After that I carefully adjusted the color balance and curves. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.
