Day 67/365:
Another busy day with little time for photography. My grandson's preschool is closed this week due to Covid so we are helping out a lot with day care. So this isn't the shot I had planned but a few pink things put together before the light went. Everyone loves a little pink don't they?
It's a miserable rainy day today so I decided to have a play. I took a few photos of my dried hydrangea...so you may be subjected to more.

I want to try this again as it's not quite as I envisioned it. I have some very kind friends , one lent me the violin and the other the ballet shoes. I would like to get more use of them both before I return them.
Jag fick mina första balettskor när jag var fem år och jag drömde om att bli en ”prima ballerina” klädd i tyll och glitter… Många, många år senare blev jag istället trädgårdsmästare klädd i praktiska kläder och med ”gröna fingrar”.

I got my first ballet shoes when I was five years old and I dreamed of becoming a “prima ballerina” dressed in tulle and glitter… Many, many years later I became a gardener instead, dressed in practical clothes and with “green fingers”.
An archive photo of Daisy with her ballet shoes - a favourite toy, which always made me happy too as she so obviously enjoyed playing. It’s stored for now. I’ll probably let Bella play with it at some time, but for now it reminds me too much of Daisy.

We've had our grandson staying with us since we got back from Norfolk. He is a five year old whirlwind so I'm pretty exhausted...so a rather thrown together flat lay and so much for trying to catch up on Flickr!

Daisy was my first female cat for several years - so I usually chose pink things for her. This archive photo shows her with her ballet shoes toy which I saw one day & just had to buy it for her. It always remained one of her favourite toys.

I must remember next time I decide to do a self portrait, just how long it takes to get the idea from my head to the finished article. I've had this idea for a while and keep putting it off through lack of time. Some of you may remember that I made this tutu for a self portrait a few years ago (in comments). I always wanted to use it again and the pointe shoes I acquired recently seemed the perfect accompaniment. My ageing hands and feet spoil it hence the title. I take my hat (or shoes) off to ballet dancers...my feet were killing me from just posing in them. I'm not 100% happy with this but are we ever? Not sure I will try to recreate it though.

Well, maybe not quite, but it's not far away now. The cheerful little Japanese flowering apricot tree in my garden is always the first colour I see, and it's so welcome.

Crazy Tuesday - Footwear
Sorry, same old, same old from me with another flat lay.
I do try to think of something different although it's quite difficult at the moment as we are still testing positive so still isolating. It's a good job I have a never ending prop stash. The little vintage book is from a market in Berlin, the tickets from a trip to Nantucket during a holiday in Cape Cod. Oh, and my lovely dead roses making yet another appearance. All displayed on a scarf that my daughter-in-law gave me to use in my still life photos. HCT
These little ballet shoes were created by hand using handmade paper. They're just ½" long by 1¾" long. I've had them for a while, but I think this may be the first time I've photographed them, so thanks for this week's theme. :)

(The Red Shoes is a British film, released in 1948, about a young ballerina who is torn between her art and her romance with a young composer.)
This is part of a handmade pointe ballet shoe. It's made from handmade paper, with silk threads, which has been painted a soft, blush pink. The ribbons are vintage. The shoe is less than 1" wide.

I am trying to persuade my husband that we don't need to keep all our vinyl, he seems to think we do even though our record player is in the loft. Oh well, I guess they're always handy for a photo prop.

JOSIE: Sure but only if I can use your 'Dying Swan' costume.

JOSIE: I know, it is a mystery! I found a box in your cupboard with a lot of parcels nicely wrapped in Sinterklaas-wrapping-paper, one had my name on it, I can read my own name.
AM: Sigh...

It's Saturday morning...that means it's ballet time for Jessie. And taking pictures time for daddy. :) I got a lot of good shots this time which I will be posting today as time permits.
I shot a similar shot last week. Normally I don't like to shoot the same shot over again, but Jane pointed out to me that the picture would have looked so much better without the tap shoes. At first I blew her off...but after looking at the picture some more, I agreed. So here's a new version with just the ballet shoes. I opted to leave this one in color since i like the soft colors and the striped tights.
