In covid times our Government did the unusual act of getting back in by a landslide. I'm glad they did as it showed the average kiwi is not happy with people spinning untruth about how our pandemic was handled. Today I am in our capital city, Wellington, where one person has covid and is in isolation. All their contacts are being chased up and self isolating and I hope I will not meet any of them today.
This is a hedgehog style balance pod. An exercise tool. When I was in PT yet again this year, I used them there. Found them on Amazon.com so I purchased them for home use. My balance is awful! Won't bore you with all the reasons why ...
I was so happy when I realized I actually had something cool to shoot for the theme!
Happy MACRO MONDAYS: Balance
A litoria fallax frog on my second gardenia flower for this year. I think it must be incredible to be able to balance on a flower petal.
Macro Mondays …… Theme Balance.
Small pebbles stacked , balanced on top of each other , certainly took a steady hand and patience to build this stack.

Balancing two of my major interests: reading and photography. I've always tended to do things a little differently than other people.

What does the word 'balance' mean to me ?
Defying gravity is how I see the word, but of course it has many meanings. For an idea for a macro it was a question of balancing some thing on some thing to defy gravity which was a real challenge as I discovered. I tried lots of different materials but settled on three glass nuggets balancing on top of each other. Trying to balance four glass nuggets proved impossible, gravity won every time! It was not as easy to do as I first thought, a question of patience on my part trying to find the exact spot to balance each nugget, keeping my cool and not breathing too hard and then lighting the scene required further patience but I'm pleased with the result!

Balancing the fruit on the little guy's body wasn't difficult, but getting the 52 Mm lens cap to balance on the angel's head proved to be interesting.
I wanted to rub the small metal antenna to perhaps make in sticky and balance the feather, but it didn't work. In the end I resorted to a dab of glue.

I am always Amazed how Butterfly's Balance so delicately and Gracefully ................seen at Chester Zoo, Butterfly House.
Chased this little guy up and down as he tirelessly patrolled his territory. Love the color of him and especially his wings.. It almost looks like I bumped up the color, but as you can see from the little white tufts, this is pretty much exactly the right colors. I wanted to crop this closer to get a better look at the dragonfly, but I just couldn't stand cutting off the stalk he's clinging to.. I just like the composition like it is..
This photo of The Balancing Rock is from Big Bend National Park in Texas, at the end of the Grapevine Hills Trail, also known as the Balancing Rock Trail. I wish I had stood beneath the rock in this photo to give it some sense of size/scale. My recollection is that the bottom of the rock is about 10 feet or so off the ground. The Grapevine Hills Trail is only about 1.1 miles one-way, but the dirt road to get to the trailhead is about 6 miles or so. The trail is essentially in the middle of nowhere and was rocky in places, so I was glad not to get a flat (also, I was out of water and it was rather hot on that day)! On the hike to The Balancing Rock, the scenery was great and I almost felt like I was on another planet!
I was struck by how this image feels like it is a metaphor to the state of the world today. There is the precarious, unsustainable balance of an aging man, the storm clouds are gathering ever closer ... and yet the movement forward is not entirely dead.
A hairstylist holding a scissors in balance. If dropped, the scissors decalibrates and it's no longer usable. We almost dropped it twice to take this shot. :)
