Had a great time in Southern Alberta courtesy of my dear friend Jerry Herzig an expert birder and an exceptional photographer, encyclopedia of Southern Alberta Wildlife. I travelled to Manyberries, Alberta with my buddy Boreal impressions to meet Jerry who showed us our very first LEK, we also saw many nesting great horned owl pairs and nesting Ferruginous hawks. I was amazed at the number of birds choosing to nest in this part of the world around Pakowki Lake. Big thanks to Jerry Herzig for his kindness and a very informative guided tour.

Observed several Ferruginous hawks, Rough legged Hawks, Swainsons Hawks, Northern Harriers, Great Horned Owls and Golden Eagles in the area.

I had been planning a visit to Manyberries for sometime, little break in extended Alberta winter presented an opportunity last weekend. Pakowki Lake in South Eastern Alberta is a great destination for birdwatchers, I met up with my dear friend Jerry Herzig an expert birder and an exceptional photographer, Jerry is an encyclopedia of Southern Alberta Wildlife. I was accompanied by my buddy Boreal impressions, unfortunately there was no activity at LEK but we saw sharp-tail grouse in significant numbers, we also saw few nesting great horned owl pairs and many nesting Ferruginous hawks. Btwz, I have a Tumblr now.

For part of my photo show at the Badlander bar in Missoula this Friday, I collaborated with my good friend Marshall Hibbard, a great photographer and graphic artist. Our goal was to push my photographs toward the graphic novel style, and I am just blown away by what Marshall came up with in just a week of late nights.

I suspect Xinze has no idea whether the original Matchbox Badlander is purely generic or a real life vehicle. Its just one big free for all with no legal comeback whatsoever and if it looks good enough to copy then thats what happens.

Its one of those MBX generics which I deem just about believable enough to warrant buying, i'd rather it not be there at all of course, but its styling and proportions are hardly of Gerry Anderson fiction.

Surprisingly well painted with a glossy metallic yellow finish but the casting quality is to be expected pretty shabby.

Part of a six vehicle set sourced recently from China. Mint and boxed.

Who'd a thunk there would be so many bikers in South Dakota in the beginning of August? The sound of all those bikes was intoxicating at first but by the second night at Yellowstone, I was craving some peace and quiet. We knew ahead of time that Sturgis would be well underway when we came through but it is still quite an experience to witness all those motorcycles EVERYWHERE -- and we did not even go to the rally!

Badlanders on Wards Road, July 2000 prior to demolition, photo by Clyde Ferguson. Formerly Virginia Supper Club (1950's, early 1960's). This was also at one time, "The Rainbow." Location was roughly where Golden Corral and Bob Evan's are today.

Be There!

The jury is still out as to whether I would have felt the need to have bought this Matchbox Badlander had it been a single. Generics are not high on my buying priority list unless they are very well done and this perhaps isn't one of their best but neither is it anywhere near their worst either! Its side profile is perhaps its strongest styling feature which looks contemporary and modern whilst its front end is more Mad Max than Mitsubishi! Part of a five vehicle set bought from a Big Lots on my recent trip to the States which was just as well as i've yet to see it in our ASDA stores! Mint and boxed.

Its front end design is a bit Mad Max but the rest of the Badlander is pretty believable hence why this new 2018 recolour came home with me. As Matchbox generics go this casting is nowhere near the worst I've seen though obviously not something to go mad over. Bought recently from ASDA as part of the latest Batch E. Mint and boxed.

From The Hellfire Chronicles: Blood in the Skies by G. D. Falksen:

Air Force Azure

The men and women of the Commonwealth Air Force stand as a shield against pirates, smugglers, and any who would threaten their beloved nation. Instantly recognizable in their sharp blue uniforms, Air Force officers are courageous knights of the air, risking life and limb so that others may live in peace.

Coal Black

Coal is the fuel of industry, the source of humanity’s technology and power. Mountains of soot, smoke clouds in the sky, these are small prices to pay for the march of progress. In the modern engine-driven age, coal is truly worth its weight in gold.

Steele Blue

Wing Commander Elizabeth Steele is an ace of the Commonwealth Air Force. Noted for her courage, her wit, and her sky blue eyes, Steele stands out anywhere she goes. Be careful not to cross her, or you will find that lightning can strike from a cloudless sky.

Badlander Rust

Everything is rough and rugged in the Badlands. Leather cracks, wood wears, and metal rusts. It is a fact of life. Undaunted, the Badlanders salve what they can from the wreckage and rebuilt, joining old and new into something unique.

This is a Matchbox version of a generic pickup truck called Badlander.

Badlander seat with bags. I like the looks of the sissy bar and king/queen seat better. Plus drag bars are down in this pic, I moved them up.

The switch between the Badlander seat and Mustang king/queen really changed the looks. Plus not having bags on cleaned up the looks.
