This beautiful Western Tanager surprised me in my backyard this week. I was so excited I almost missed getting a shot of him. The story of catching him is in my YT video this week. It was so fun!!!
Not even the rain will keep Fyero from venturing outside to visit her water bowl. She wasn't too impressed with the mist in the air, but she did hold out long enough to grab a few sips and take a look around.

Big winter storm hitting NYC. It's a Sunday. Lots of winds, snowfall and the sparrows are doing acrobatics. My goal was to capture a "burst into life" moment when the bird took flight. Froze myself while waiting for the right bird to do the right thing. Also I had to be spot on with the shutter speed. Nothing more; nothing less. Apart from that "burst into life" effect, I was also targeting the snowflakes that would randomly fly out when the bird took flight. I guess I did the job well.

there've been a pair of recently fledged black-capped chicakdees at our feeder more and more the past week or so. they were following mom and dad around and getting handouts here the prior week for a few days but mom and dad seem to have cut off their allowance and kicked them out of the house. They are tiny and stick close together a lot of the time. Pretty damn adorable.

We have had some hot weather this week. India was so excited to see that daddy had brought home a tiny paddling pool; for her to cool off in. Brubba joined her and they played outside for hours. Brubba taught his little sister how to fish with a toy fishing set and daddy made a rainbow with the hose. A really fun afternoon in the beautiful, Florida sunshine! My family and I went horseback riding today. I'm riding Spot, who you might remember from my backyard adventure.
