Plastic Soldiers with Toy Guns, series.
I was emphasizing the commercialization of toy guns. Makers of toy guns paint or mold toy guns in orange, so I painted these green army men as a statement to the fact, that they still represent guns, no matter the size or color.

1. Once a week (or so) I download my whole CiteULike library as a BibteX file onto my computer.
2. Then back this up into a Subversion repository. [This is a version control back up system which means I can recover any version, and it is stored on another server further reducing risk of loss]
3. The PDFs stored in the Mendeley folders are backed up everytime I run my TimeMachine back up. This is a Mac OS back up system that backs up incremental changes onto a back up hard disk. There are similar systems for other operating systems.
The back up regime means that should CUL or Mendeley or both become unavailable or unusable I have both a full copy of my reference library with all my notes and keywords in a BibteX file, and a full set of PDFs in nicely labelled folders so I can find them. So many applications accept BibteX files there would be no trouble finding another to import my library to.
Should my computer fail as well there are backups of all the PDFs in the TimeMachine and my BibteX library can be retrieved from the Subversion repository.
