Neustadt in Holstein ist eine Kleinstadt von knapp 16.000 Einwohnern in Ostholstein an der Ostseeküste. Gegründet wurde sie im Jahr 1244 von Adolf IV. von Holstein. Die Stadt war ehemals für ihre Hafenanlagen bekannt, heute ist sie Reiseziel vieler Touristen und dient als Erholungs- und Kulturort. Das Binnenwasser hat eine durchschnittliche Tiefe von ca. 90 Zentimetern. Es ist in den überwiegend flacheren Bereichen nur etwa 50 Zentimeter, in den wenigen tieferen Bereichen hingegen bis zu drei Meter tief. Obwohl das Gewässer von Süßwasserflüssen gespeist wird, handelt es sich um einen Brackwassersee, da in unregelmäßigen Abständen Ostseewasser durch die Hafenenge von Neustadt in das Becken eindringt. Der Salzgehalt des Binnenwassers liegt nur unwesentlich unter dem der nahen Ostsee. Dadurch können dort Meeresbewohner wie Glaskrebse und Ohrenquallen leben.

Neustadt in Holstein is a small town of just under 16,000 inhabitants in East Holstein on the Baltic Sea coast. It was founded in 1244 by Adolf IV of Holstein. The town was once known for its harbour facilities, today it is a destination for many tourists and serves as a place of recreation and culture. The Inland Water has an average depth of around 90 centimetres. It is only around 50 centimetres deep in the predominantly shallower areas, but up to three metres deep in the few deeper areas. Although the water is fed by freshwater rivers, it is a brackish water lake, as Baltic Sea water enters the basin at irregular intervals through the Neustadt harbour straits. The salinity of the Inland Water is only slightly lower than that of the nearby Baltic Sea. As a result, marine life such as glass crabs and box jellyfish can live there.
Bei diesem Bild handelt es sich um das dritte einer kleinen Serie älterer Bilder aus dem Jahr 2017 aus Polen, welche noch in meinem Archiv schlummerten. Um die Ausbeute-ärmere Zeit etwas zu überbrücken, habe ich wie die letzten Jahre zuvor auch schon ein paar Bilder überarbeitet und nochmal durch Photoshop gejagt. Teilweise habe ich die Motive schon mit anderen Lokomotiven und/oder Zuggarnituren gezeigt, aber es sind auch neue Fotostellen, andere Blickwinkel und neue Lokbaureihen dabei. Die Bilder sind allesamt im Rahmen eines zweiwöchigen Urlaubes im Nachbarland im Herbst vor drei Jahren entstanden. Ich hatte damals richtig Glück mit dem Wetter. Ich habe vor dem Urlaub nicht damit gerechnet im Oktober so viele Sonnenbilder machen zu können. Es war teilweise sogar richtig warm und man könnte ohne Winterklamotten in der Sonne auf den nächsten Zug warten...
Am 17. Oktober 2017 sollte den ganzen Tag die Herbstsonne vom Himmel lachen. Ich befand mich gerade auf der dritten Station des Urlaubes. Dieser war in Warschau gestartet, wo nach der Anreise die erste Nacht verbracht wurde. Danach ging es nach Danzig. Von dort erkundete ich dann die südwärts führende elektrifizierte Hauptstrecke. Als drittes Ziel wurde ein Hotel in Posen gewählt. Von dort sollte es dann an die Ost-West-Strecke gehen. Einen Tag westlich und ein Tag östlich von Posen. Wobei der zweite Tag dann auch schon wieder der Abreisetag war. Es sollte am Abend noch weiter südöstlich nach Katowice gehen. Durch die kurzen Tage war nach dem Sonnenuntergang noch etwas Zeit und auch Motivation vorhanden, um noch eine längere Autofahrt anzutreten. Als letzte Fotostelle des Tages hatte ich mir an der langen Geraden bei Jankówko einen Bahnübergang gesucht von dem man ein Stückchen in ein Feld hineinlaufen konnte. Auf dem breiten Grünstreifen zwischen Strecke und Feld ließ es sich aushalten und ich wartete auf ein paar westwärts fahrende Züge. Bei der Ankunft verpasste ich natürlich gleich mal einen Güterzug mit einer PESA-Gama. Aber kurze Zeit später schaute dann der obige Containerzug vorbei. Mit einer leicht modernisierten EU07 von PKP Cargo als Zuglok. Die Altbaulok ist aktuell im hellgrün-dunkelgrünem Retrolack unterwegs. Der Zug bestand komplett aus Wagen der Bauart Rgns und es waren nur 20"-Container geladen. Interessanterweise jeweils nur zwei Stück pro Wagen...

Das Ehepaar Ada und Emil Nolde erwarb 1926 die unbebaute Warft und ließ dort ein Backsteinhaus errichten, das der Bauhausarchitektur nachempfunden war und sich damit bewusst von den umliegenden Friesenhäusern abhob.[1] Ab 1930 lebten die Noldes in dem Haus.
Nach Emil Noldes Tod 1956 wurde das Haus als Museum eingerichtet. 1996 wurden Haus und Garten unter Denkmalschutz gestellt. 2010 besuchten rund 80.000 Menschen das Museum.
The couple Ada and Emil Nolde acquired 1926 undeveloped mound and built there a brick house, which was inspired by the Bauhaus architecture and thus deliberately contrasted from the surrounding houses. [1] From 1930 Nolde lived in the house.
After Emil Nolde's death in 1956 the house was converted into a museum. 1996 declared a national monument house. 2010 the museum was attended by around 80,000 people,.

Dieses Backsteinhaus wurde 1910 erbaut und war zu Zeiten der DDR ein "Konsum" Laden. Seit über 15 Jahren in Privatbesitz und unter Denkmalschutz.

Das Kaufmannshaus mit gestaffeltem Backsteingiebel aus dem Jahr 1490 ist das einzige in Rostock erhaltene Haus, das als architektonische Besonderheit einen Hausbaum aufweist. Dieser aus Eichenholz gefertigte Stamm ruht im Keller auf einem riesigen Findling und steht nahezu in der Hausmitte. Er dient unterstützend dazu, die Lasten aus den als Speicher genutzten Böden auf den Fundamentstein zu übertragen. Ähnliche Gebäude sind noch in Greifswald und Stralsund zu finden.
The merchant's house with a stepped brick gable dating from 1490 is the only house preserved in Rostock with a "house tree" meaning a central wood trunk pillar as an architectural feature. This trunk, made of oak wood, rests on a huge erratic block in the cellar and stands almost in the middle of the house. It serves to transfer the loads from the floors used as storage to the foundation stone. Similar buildings can still be found in Greifswald and Stralsund.

I visited somewhere so small I didn’t see any stoplights, so big it has 11 suburbs – eleven formerly independent villages absorbed in 1971 into Idstein, a splendid Town of Tradition with history dating to 1102 – a royal seat in the past and a modern city in the present!
My friends Dori & Siggi picked me up 2:00 at the crew hotel; Dori drove us north across the Rhine River, then 12 miles on further north, past Wiesbaden up into a magnificent town in the Taunus Mountains I have long wanted to tour. Highlights:

Due to its well-preserved Old Town 'Altstadt', Idstein is on the German Timber-Frame Road 'Deutsche Fachwerkstraße', a tourist route through towns with fine timbered construction. It was so much fun visiting here with my friends Dori & Siggi; I am scheduled for FRA next week, when we plan to return!
