The Devil's Backbone reef is a dangerous pass between North Eleuthera and Harbour Island in the Bahamas. It has destroyed and sunk more ships than any other reef and rock system in the entire West Indies, including the Eleutheran Adventurers and Loyalists who were shipwrecked and ultimately ended up seeking solace in Preacher's cave, and soon made up the entire population of the Eleutheran Islands and cays, including Harbour Island and Spanish Wells.
