A weekend drive through northeast Iowa included a stop at Backbone State Park ... the oldest state park in Iowa.
Inveneo recently completed its first BATI training in Mirebalais, Haiti the week of March 18, 2011. Out of 80+ applicants, they graduated 11 BATI IT technicians who will be working on connecting Internet to those who need it most. There will be subsequent trainings in other provinces of the country covering 22 communities and all of the territories of Haiti. The second phase of the project consists of implementing the network backbone throughout the interior of the country.

We hiked up this enormous rock and crossed over the top of the tunnel. I swear this is much higher when you're on top with your 3 year old. There were no fences or rails up there! Talk about sweaty palms.
Murti makers are busy for upcoming Puja. They uses straws to make the basic shape of Murti. Over this shape they'll use mud to build beautiful Murti.

This park was absolutlely beautiful. I loved watching Braelyn play outside and splash around in the river. She had such a wonderful weekend in VA. It certainly is one we will never forget!

In August, Strawberry Point, IA had 14 inches of rain over a few hour period. Flooding resulted and the main road to the park is still closed today.
The top of Hoye Crest on Backbone Mountain in Maryland. The Highpointers club added the mailbox, where they keep a log and certificates. Others have built a cairn to the right of the sign. I added a rock. My stick, which I bought in Red Rock Canyon near Las Vegas, is leaning against it.
Just beyond this sign is the Monongalia National Forest.
