Words cannot describe how long and hard the climb is from Bloomington to the top of Backbone Mountain.
To give you an idea of the grade and steepness of the climb, downhill traffic has a run-away truck ramp. That's steep!

Whilst in the valley bottom the forests cover and hide the underlying form of the landscape on the summits and valley ridges the landscape is laid bare to see. This ride feature is very defined appearing as if the backbone of the landscape.
