From a walk last month.. The snow had almost melted and the sun had dipped below my horizon. I hadn't noticed my dogs were in shot as just trying to steady myself as this was taken hand held. I had gone with the intention of some leaf shots but grabbed this before the light disappeared...the view over the fence is where i shot the winding house from Bestwood Colliery - with a snow filled field from many years ago....
Another reality I could well do without is taking 30 minutes or more updating PayPal after 4 phishing emails no less for several hundred pounds just now.
As if I’m not busy enough…keep a weather eye open for these scams Sue x
My Golden doodle Merry is at the top of the path and my Golden Retriever Beau’s head is just in shot bottom right of the image..they usually go a little way into the wood but never far and always come smartly to a whistle :)
Icterus chrysater
(Yellow-backed Oriole / Turpial Montañero)
The Yellow-backed Oriole is well-named, as it is one of the very few species of orioles with a yellow back. Indeed, this oriole shows only two colors, yellow and black: the wings are entirely black, the feathers lacking the white or yellow feather margins that are shown by most other species of oriole.
The Yellow-backed Oriole has an oddly discontinuous distribution: it occurs from southern Mexico south to northeastern Nicaragua, and again from Panama south to northern Colombia and Venezuela, but is absent from Costa Rica and from most of Nicaragua. This oriole has a very broad elevational range, ranging up to 2500 m in Central America and almost to 2700 m in Colombia.

Three months loitering in a market compound looking forlorn but tomorrow on the 4th July is her day to release the shackles.
Short back & sides anyone?

Sometimes I dream about going back
keeping all the things I left behind
But now I know you can't change the past
Way too young to know the reason why.

The old post by the jetty has become a regular spot for our local cormorants and shags.

A westbound empty DEEX coal train is about to knock down CP 485 on the NS Chicago Line with a pair of BNSF EMD’s.
Following on from my previous upload of Dartmoor, it was necessary to stop and take on refreshments 🙈🍺😂 where we were entertained by a very genial host, pleasantries and banter were exchanged, then it was time to make our way to the next destination.
Our next stop was an old medieval packhorse bridge called ‘Hisley Bridge’ hidden away in Hisley Woods where it crossed the River Bovey.
I have to say this location was like stepping back in time not only due to the age and structure of this bridge but it’s setting as well, magical did not come into it. I feel a return visit in springtime is called for.
Thank you so much for viewing my photos, I get so much pleasure in taking them.
The comments and banter are so appreciated, hope all of you out there in Flickr Land are having a nice weekend

45407 + 4472 on a Manchester Liverpool Road to Carnforth ferry move. Somewhere north of Bolton, think it's in the Tonge Moor area.15th September 1980. There were 2 coaches behind the locos. Nick Dodson and I turned off the main road looking for a spot and Nick spotted this and pointed it out. It was published in 'Steam Railway'. I've seen it done several times since. I doubt if the chimney is still there.
Turn your back on the sunrise and you sometimes get a nice surprise! A view from the west pier extension at Whitby, just after dawn.
Once again extremly lucky, just took the car down to "my" Shrike, and there he was, gave me about 5 min and also took a bumblebee and a bugg to eat.

A back lane in Alnwick (Northumberland, North England) serves as a bit of a time machine and lets us look into our recent past. I'd take this cobbold street over the abysmally tarmacked roads on my 'new' estate any day - they don't make 'em like they used to.
Olive-backed Oriole tucked away in a Casuarina tree in Beree Badalla Mangrove Conservation Area beside Currumbin Creek. This is the very first time I have seen one of these even though they are widely distributed. My saving grace is that they are difficult to find without hearing their call first. It will be easier next time now I recognise its musical call.
