Used a flash on manual in hand + a led flashlight (Held by Matt Boudreau) as the spotlight.

Used a Vivitar FD 24mm f/2.8 and a Soligor 21mm f/3.8 lenses for the star photos and a Minolta Rokkor 200mm tele for the moon shot.

Got a lot of stars, considering how light polluted the skies of the DC area are, however, I'm not super-happy with these pics.

There seems to be a lot of distortion no matter what combination of settings I use. Could simply be a matter of using cheap lenses.

Ah well, I'm still learning, and any advice would be gratefully appreciated.

Time flies and summer is nearly gone, this year's back to school event has already started in several stores. We started to think about the theme almost right after last year's event. Lots of improvements were made in the whole process of planning and thanks to our stationery team's effort, each really played an important role in making this event successful.

The entire layout was planned using Google Sketchup, the first in city'super's history and I'm particularly proud of it. I started using it for this fair last year but lots of measurements were inaccurate, but this time it is near perfect! When we were standing on the aisles after 4 hours of setup, we could see the big difference and we could feel the satisfaction rush to our hearts. Layout is only one of the many critical success factors, the way our team "pour our hearts" to this really makes everything click and I can't be thankful enough for that. In the process, we all better ourselves. Almost everyone had some innovative small moves, gee I appreciate a lot! What can I do? Buy you gals lunch?

One of the backdrop was my overnight illustrator work and the result is stunning to me. It is a "personalize + stylize" your notebook section. Here you get all the components you need to create your own perfect notebook, in addition, pen holders, pen, clips, stickers, stamps, MT-tapes are all there for customers to create something unique for themselves.

6 years ago when I first became a stationery buyer, I introduced computer related products for this fair coz school was no longer paper based. Since then we had a deal with Apple Computer directly to be in the fair and offer something special no other places have. If you carry a student card or show them your teacher's identification, you will get discount and a free iPod touch when you buy a computer, in addition a few free gifts for you to choose including hubs or computer carrying cases.

I had high hope on the leaflet of this fair too, to make it like a magazine offering useful tips instead of just a product list brochure. It didn't happen as expected, but it is already one big improvement in terms of communication between various teams.

So in short, this year's back to school fair in city'super/LOG-ON, you can find Apple Computer's exclusive offer, colorful computer carrying cases, super funny and beautiful USB memory/gadgets, fashion headphones, cute portable speakers, hottest Korean stationery, Staedtler gears, personalize and stylize your notebook, newest stationery gadgets, Pilot's erasable gel pen, etc etc....... Just come over!

PERSONAL FUN FACT: I was DYING to know what these awesome pants went to, when I unearthed them from a $5 baggie of doll clothes that I purchased at my local flea market. This shirt looked so good with these pants, that I had a feeling that they went together. I also questioned if perhaps they came with a fashion gift pack of sorts. A long time ago, back in 2011, when I first started delving back into dolls, I never would have guessed that these pants were made for Barbies. They look more like the kind of quirky item that Kid Kore Katie would have come with (which is a compliment). Back then, I was very taken aback by Fashion Fever outfits and these more modern Fashionistas type gift sets. The clothes were not only unique looking, but shockingly versatile. I know that in many ways, certain Barbie items are lesser quality than what I grew up with in the 90s and early 2000s. But I have to say that these newer outfits have so much more personality and flavor than many of the sets that were out in stores when I was a kid! For some reason, the cat decal on the pants always looks like a unicorn to me from a distance. I think if these were unicorn pants, Colleen would have needed to use them right away (unicorns are her favorite animals, even though they are imaginary). The princess themed top is the perfect coordinating piece. I am also in love with this furry Barbie vest--it reminds me of a few of the other vests I have from this same time frame!

I managed to complete armoring the legs with silver Technic panels, and put a lot of Bionicle armor plates into the tail with lots of clip and bar elements as greebling.

I also solved adding wings.

The holidays have gone so quickly. And my girl has a tough year ahead of her with lots of exams, but I truly hope everything will go well. Fingers crossed!

the gristone outcrop of Back Tor is an impressive jumble of rocks situated at the northen end of the derwent edges where they run into the howden moors. It's typical dark peak country: boggy moorland, pools, rocks, and a great feeling of wilderness...

Some information on this house from The Burrage House Study Report:

"As the only fully executed chateau in Boston [modelled after Chenonceaux, in the Loire Valley of France], the interior of the Burrage House

has achieved major significance for its design, workmanship, and materials. It is a

largely intact example of a turn-of-the century decorative design that has few, if

any, rivals in Boston. Utilizing themes and motifs from the French and Italian

Renaissance, the interior scheme used lavish materials on the first and second

floors, including wood paneling, elaborate stone and wood carvings, intricate

stained glass windows, mosaic tiles and bronze. Although the interior has been

renovated several times since the Burrages last occupied the house in 1947, much

of the design, workmanship and materials are still intact."

"The Burrage House was built in 1899 as the winter home for attorney,

businessman, and philanthropist Albert C. Burrage and his family. It remained in

the Burrage Family until the death of Burrage’s widow Alice in 1947. At that

time, the house was sold and converted into doctor’s offices. The building

underwent a subsequent renovation in 1959 to house the Boston Evening Clinic,

which relocated from nearby 396 Commonwealth Avenue. In 1990, the building

was purchased by Boston Back Bay Board & Care Limited Partnership and, using

historic preservation tax credits, was renovated for use as a nursing home and

elder care facility." [The house is now the site of several condos.]

After filling the spur to Escue Wood Preserving in Millwood, local CC1 starts its way back east to Cecilia. They packed the track full with the three cars they brought here including leaving one tied down across the road just short of the derail.

Our short chase west following this local was an enjoyable time and certainly left hopes for a return trip to the PAL. With rain moving in and plans to chase the WTNN the next morning, we broke off after this location and proceeded on our way across western Kentucky.
