The Savoy Hotel is a luxury hotel located in the Strand in the City of Westminster in central London, England. Built by the impresario Richard D'Oyly Carte with profits from his Gilbert and Sullivan opera productions, it opened on 6 August 1889. It was the first in the Savoy group of hotels and restaurants owned by Carte's family for over a century. The Savoy was the first luxury hotel in Britain, introducing electric lights throughout the building, electric lifts, bathrooms in most of the lavishly furnished rooms, constant hot and cold running water and many other innovations. Carte hired César Ritz as manager and Auguste Escoffier as chef de cuisine; they established an unprecedented standard of quality in hotel service, entertainment and elegant dining, attracting royalty and other rich and powerful guests and diners.
The hotel became Carte's most successful venture. Its bands, Savoy Orpheans and the Savoy Havana Band, became famous, and other entertainers (who were also often guests) included George Gershwin, Frank Sinatra, Lena Horne and Noël Coward. Other famous guests have included Edward VII, Oscar Wilde, Enrico Caruso, Charlie Chaplin, Babe Ruth, Harry Truman, Joan Crawford, Judy Garland, John Wayne, Laurence Olivier, Marilyn Monroe, Humphrey Bogart, Elizabeth Taylor, Barbra Streisand, Bob Dylan, Bette Midler, The Beatles and many others. Winston Churchill often took his cabinet to lunch at the hotel.[2]
The hotel is now managed by Fairmont Hotels and Resorts. It has been called "London's most famous hotel".[3] It has 267 guest rooms and panoramic views of the River Thames across Savoy Place and the Thames Embankment. The hotel is a Grade II listed building.
Even though I prefer the mid-late 70’s babes, I do have a couple of earlier Sindys in my collection, and I’m fascinated by their differences. I recently got my first ‘Trendy Girl’, which is the auburn-haired Miss on the right, wearing ‘Disco Party’ from 1971/72. I love her rosy-coloured makeup and her rich hair colour, and I’m also intrigued by those more childlike ‘baby-doll’ looking arms with those splayed out hands, which are quite different to the more ‘adult’ slender and elongated hands of the later dolls. I also like her quite curvy body (with surprisingly huge square shoulders… perfect for hanging shoulder bags off of! That bag from ‘Disco Party’ always slips off the shoulders of all the other Sindys who have worn it! :P And those soft vinyl legs that bend with an internal wire… they still bend perfectly.) She is seen here with my platinum blonde 1971 ‘Lovely Lively’ Sindy in the paisley jumpsuit and boots she was sold with. As you know, her body is quite different to those Trendy Girls, with her slimmer, flatter chested torso, her click-click bendable legs and of course, those interesting gauntlet arms. She also seems to be slightly taller, too. They are getting along just fine on the rooftop patio of the Sindy townhouse.

I'm now satisfied that this hairdo works for me! I know the lacy minidress does- especially with the way it lets me show off my legs! ...Not to mention my other prominent assets!
I'm wearing another one of my May 2012 shopping binge minidresses- this one from milanoo[dot]com. Its a lovely little lace thing that accentuates my curves very well!

Blondie is Chloé's favorite band. A few years ago I purchased her this Blondie bag for her when I was on vacation. Tell me the kid don't have sass??
