California Condor; Gymnogyps californianus; B‏ig Sur Coast. While eating lunch, we saw 3 Condors rising from behind a clif. I dropped everything, ran downstairs to the car, got the gear, then ran back up to the open deck. Fortunately I was able to get a shot off; Lesson learned: In Condor country, keep camera with me at all times.

Station E.ismeer der J.ungfraubahn

Die S.tation E.ismeer ist eine der zwei A.ussichtspunkte / H.altestellen im T.unnel der

J.ungfraubahn J.B zwischen der S.tation E.igergletscher und dem J.ungfraujoch in den

Alpen - Alps im Berner Oberland im Kanton Bern in der Schweiz.

E.ismeer - Der Name dieser Station könnte nicht treffender sein

.

In haushohen A.bbrüchen fliesst ein breiter E.isstrom des o.beren I.schmeer - E.ismeer

dem unteren G.rindelwaldgletscher zu. Umrahmt wird das E.ismeer von den A.lpengipfeln

W.etterhorn ( BE - 3`701m ) - S.chreckhorn ( BE - 4`078m ) - L.auteraarhorn ( BE - 4`042m )

und dem grossen F.iescherhorn ( BE/VS - 4`049m ) und dem M.ittellegigrat gegen den

E.iger ( BE - 3`970m )

.

Mitten in dieser G.letscherwelt konnte am 25. Juli 1905 die Aussichtsstation in 3`159m

Höhe in der S.üdwand des E.iger eröffnet werden. Die Station E.ismeer blieb während

sieben Jahren E.ndstation der J.ungfraubahn, bevor 1912 das J.ungfraujoch erreicht

werden konnte.

Früher konnte von hier mit den S.kiern nach G.rindelwald gefahren werden. Leider haben

sich die E.ismassen des unteren G.rindelwaldgletschers in den letzten Jahren dermassen

zurückgebildet dass diese Tour nur noch sehr schwer zu bewältigen ist.

Für mich persöhnlich ist die Station E.ismeer der schönste A.ussichtspunkt beim Besuch

des J.ungfraujoch. Normalerweise hält der letzte Z.ug auf`s J.ungfraujoch des Tages bei

dieser S.tation nicht mehr an.

The Eisemeer Station is one of the two view points in the c.hunnel between E.igergletscher

and the Station J.ungfraujoch / Top of Europe in Switzerland.

.

E.ismeer => Arctic Ocean - The name of this station could not be more accurate.

.

In crashes houses a broad flowing ice the lower G.rindelwald g.lacier. Surrounded,

the Arctic Ocean by the Alpine peaks W.etterhorn ( BE - 3 `701m ) - S.chreckhorn

( BE - 4` 078m ) - L.auteraarhorn ( BE - 4 `042m ) and the b.ig F.iescherhorn

( BE / VS - 4` 049m ), and against the M.ittellegi - ridge to the E.iger ( BE - 3 `970m )

Right in the middle of this g.lacier world was on 25 July 1905 the lookout station at 3 `159m

altitude opened. The station remained Arctic Ocean during seven years terminus of the

J.ungfrau - R.ailway before in 1912 J.ungfraujoch was achieved.

Previously could from here with the skis to G.rindelwald driven. Unfortunately, the ice

masses of the l.ower G.rindelwald g.lacier in the last few years went back that this tour

just very difficult to cope.

For me, the station is the most beautiful view while visiting the J.ungfraujoch.

.

Beware, the last train on `s J.ungfraujoch holds most of the day at this station no more

06.28 Ira @ Capitol Hill by Downtown Dog Lounge

Ira the 6 year old (going on 7 July 17th J ) Boston Terrier is well, kind of a big deal. He is practically a celebrity here at DDL, when he walks in the door he is greeted and admired by all. How did he earn such an A list status? For starters, aside from being a big deal Ira is also a B...IG BOY! Ira is an absolute brick house, 35 pounds of pure muscle! While coming here he has earned the nicknames “Mega Boston”, “Super Boston”, “Buddha Boston”, “Ira the Great”, “King Ira” and many more. But don’t let his burly figure fool you he is a lover not a fighter. In fact this pooch is one of the most loving, affectionate, snuggly, lap dogs you can find! Ira is also as mellow as they come. He enjoys a nice comfy bed and values his rest. Ira has been coming to DDL since May of 2006. He is a frequent boarder and is always on his best behavior. When he’s boarding he has zero complaints and is an overnighter’s dream come true because he’s quiet, calm and patient with the other dogs. We also appreciate that Ira is also patient with us because we love to dress up Ira and take funny photos! He has had photo shoots with a cape so we can capture his alter egos “Super Boston” and “King Ira”. Ira has certain things we always recognize as his. One being his camouflage blanket he sleeps with at night, another is the roast beef he has garnished on top of his meals when he stays here, making him the envy of all the other dogs here. Another fun fact about Ira he did Dog Yoga when we offered it!Aside from being strongly built Ira has a few other physical characteristics that we adore. He has a very small, stumpy tail. It is docked soooo short there is barely anything there. But don’t worry, Ira doesn’t need his tail to express how happy he is, he does that with his giant, adorable, whole face smile and little grunts of joy. Despite being a big guy he is very fast! They way he runs is really cute and quirky though because he kind of scuttles around like a crab! You truly are unique Ira and we love that about you! Come by anytime big guy, our doors and hearts are always open for you.
