Blue GP30 No. 4131 still looks like a Baltimore & Ohio locomotive, but the new CSX Transportation road number replacing B&O No. 6960 reveals a new life in a much bigger system. CSXT No. 4131 has just cut off of a transfer freight at Yard Center at Dolton, Illinois, on December 3, 1988.

The fruit and husk of a physalis plant f22 / ISO 200 / 1 sec - the fruit is roughly the size of a cherry tomato and in this image it is backlight by a small flashlight hidden by the POV.

This is an image from last year that I re-processed in B&W for the Capture Oakville photo contest. The final juried selections were based physical prints and 2 of my entries made it to this stage (Iridescent Leaf was my other shot).

I hardly ever make prints of my images and I highly recommend taking some of your favourite shots and getting them printed at a good size (in this case 16"x20" prints). It is a very different experience seeing them physically in print. Your local camera club or camera store can probably recommend a quality print shop to make the prints (avoid the big box in-store labs).

This shot won a honorable mention in the B&W category and both prints are on display at the gallery of a local cultural centre along with 80 other photographs from the competition.

Overall it was a great experience - I learned a lot about the printing process and it forced me to look over my work for the past year with a critical eye.
