Happy Earth Day!
What a surprise and delight to spot a Great Blue Heron (Ardea herodias) hanging out around the shore patiently stalking fish in the little remains of standing water from the seasonal flooded farm field. Saanich, Vancouver Island, BC.
Needless to say I have been watching this heron with camera and mega lens in hand almost daily, observing through the chain link fence and like the heron patiently waiting for the right moments.
The clouds were looking ominous last night, long after the sun went down. I was out with my daughter, she with her new camera and I with mine. It is so much fun with her and we caught some very interesting light on the north side of the reservoir. There was an unnerving calm when a sudden wind came up and a sky that was cause for people to run for cover.
This has been published in 'Digital Photographer Magazine' Ukranian edition, as part of an article talking about lightning!!
This was taken in Rapid City, South Dakota. I have been photographing, or trying to photograph, lightning for many years now. I have got some beautiful shots, but I never had felt like I got THE shot. Well, I feel like I finally got THE shot with this one, now I have to try and one up myself. Actually, I just got lucky here, I have seen a lot of beautiful lightning, but my camera was pointing the wrong way, the evening I shot this their was so much lightning, it didn't matter where I pointed the camera, I was going to get something.
Check it out in B&W

I really enjoy going down to the beach and throwing cereal in the air and watching the seagulls scatter... Opportunities arise and I start clicking away.... hopefully I can get a couple of good shots. ;-}

Lilac-breasted roller is often considered one of the most beautiful birds in the world with its pastel (colours: buff, white, purple, blue, turquoise, green, black, tan) plumage, striking field marks and long tail streamers.
I thought maybe this storm was going to drop a Tornado, but it was just one of the clouds that dropped down low to the ground just to tease me. Either way it was awesome!!

This was taken in the Black Hills of South Dakota at Custer State Park. I was on the other side of a fence taking these photos, I don't suggest doing that because a fence isn't going to keep an angry buffalo from coming through it. But luckily this day she wasn't willing to charge through the fence, though she did charge toward me a couple times, but she stopped several yards from the fence. So we just stood there and stard in a stadoff with eachother, she finally got bored, decided I wasn't a threat and went back to grazing.
Waterfalls from the Opyrland Hotel in Nashville. I really hope you aren't bored with them yet. I know I keep saying that, but I still keep posting them don't I.

This was take east of Cut Bank Montana. I had just driven through the mountains just south of Glacier National Park and drove through a snow storm. It was kinda cool to drive through a snow storm, then get to lower elevations and drive through a thunderstom all within a couple hours of eachother.
This was actually a photo assignment I had in college for Carhart. I wasn't real excited about the assignment, but it turned out being one of my favorite portraits I have ever taken.
The bottle cap's in the pic.
Do you know monkeys have a characteristic affinity for red colour because the crimson monocromaticity arouses visual sensations in their optical nerves,as a result of which they undergo a sensory deprivation like experience which uplifts them to the zenith of intellect which humans are usually not capable of....
