Livonia, Avon & Lakeville ALCo C430 number 433 and C425 number 428 work their way south to Lakeville as they pass the open field in front of the Barilla plant in Avon, NY. The train would stop here to drop the first cut of hoppers before continuing south.

Fuck Mark Haven, the only thing I did to that blue was desaturate it.

LA&L 418 leads one of the Fall Foliage Excursions back towards Lakevile as it passes over Pole Bridge Road in Avon, NY.

A Southbound LA&L freight in the morning is a real rarity. It occurs when the previous days road train couldn't make it back to Lakeville in time. On the morning of October 13, 2010 the previous days Southbound is at Papermill Road, passing tank cars of syrup amidst some nice fall color. The crew will yard the train at Lakeville, then head right back out with this days Northbound train.

LA&L 428 & 425 get ready to depart Avon, NY after picking up the Barilla cars. Hard to believe that this was the last time I went out and got the LA&L as it is only a few miles from home. The railroad went to a late day schedule the week after I took this photo, which put the road train out on the line at the same time I was at work. The late day schedule was in effect throughout 2015, making this the only LA&L train I caught that year. The road train is now back on an early morning start, and leaves Lakeville between 7 to 8am. Once we get some snow on the ground it will be time to go catch the road train again.

B&H 422 and LA&L 420 work the Avon Yard alongside the Avon station on March 8, 2010. The B&H 422 has been used in service on the LA&L a couple of times since it was painted in 2002. It has been a long time since LA&L 423 and 424 have been on "home" rails, serving instead on the WNYP and B&H.

LA&L 420 & 425 have the train out of Lakeville, NY passing the LAKE Block Sign. I had wanted a train here since the LAKE sign went up, but since it is looking right into the sun in the morning when the train usually departs Lakeville, an overcast type of day would be required. One of the advantages to living just a few minutes away from the Lakeville shops is being able to head out and catch the train whenever the conditions are right for a photo I have in mind to get.

The LA&L caboose brings up the rear of the Northbound freight at the Avon station. The LA&L ran a directors special later in the day from Genesee Jct. using engine 418 and the caboose. To get the equipment to the Jct., the railroad added the 418 to the power of the freight and tacked the caboose onto the rear, giving the appearance of a good old fashioned freight train.

The B&H 422 was working on the LA&L for a few months in late 2009 and early 2010. I usually have enough left over vacation time at the end of the year to take the last 3 weeks of December off, making it possible for me to chase a Southbound LA&L train from Genesee Jct. to Lakeville. Here, on Dec. 30, 2009, the Southbound is passing some trucks at Howlett Farms, which is a good LA&L customer.

LA&L 450 - 454 - 420 head down to Kraft Foods to do their work on May 28, 1997. Kraft gets tank cars of corn syrup and is located down a spur that starts just behind the tank car. There is even a covered hopper in the feed mill at this time.
