Every now and then I get a quick shot of my sunglasses reflecting an area that I’m exploring. Some don’t look that great, but I liked how this one came out. This was at Alien Throne in the Bisti Badlands/De Na Zin Wilderness Area.

Vulcain is a very small watch manufacturer which once was famous for the so called "presidents watch" because every new American president got one by this swiss watch house. They also were one of the first who developed a mechanical alarm function which later got the name cricket due to the characteristical sound.

I took this a few years ago. It was one of my favorite portrait shoots. It brings such joy watching kids playing, pretending, using their incredible imaginations. That sweet innocence. This was one of the more contemplative shots from an otherwise up beat and fun shoot. I know this is Smile on Saturday, but somehow this shot seamed appropriate to me after the events of this week in Uvalde, Texas. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the two teachers and to those who lost their precious children.
Mirror shot, not an easy picture to take considering the fact that I can hardly see through these glasses. haha

Another shot of a Tachidinae ... with a somehow mournful look. Perhaps it was tired of posing for me.
As much as I loathe the habits of these little creatures, they really are quite amazing things.

Keenan has finished flight school and got her aviator outfit. Soon she will take her first flight along with Fonzie bear. She's working on his aviator hat as we speak.

On our last night of our short trip, Paul and I headed to this small chapel to light it up. Built in 1923 by Count Stanislas Theodoor de Goussencourt and his wife Rose Virginie Marie de Patoul Fleury, Countess de Goussencourt, in memory of their only son Paul de Goussencourt who crashed his plane on this site during WWI. Count Paul de Goussencourt, A Belgian war volunteer with the rank of sergeant pilot in the Military, was born in Obourg on January 14, 1892. Together with lieutenant de Cubber on May 12, 1917 he flew a reconnaissance flight for the Belgian artillery. Their aircraft was hit by German anti-aircraft fire, or they were engaged in a dogfight, caught fire and crashed on Allied territory where the memorial chapel now stands. Both men died there. Paul de Goussencourt was buried at the Belgian military cemetery of Adinkerke. It is still in pretty good condition but the inside has seen better days. Paul kindly blasted an orange torch at the rear of the building to illuminate the pattern above the door and a small panel light was used for the interior, I walked through the shot with a BLS to illuminate the foreground.
