7/16/21 - Sculpt update on the Space Jockey - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale.
So after the inevitable cutting and resizing of the torso that almost made my work go viral for all the wrong reasons (I was briefly a cake designer on reddit it seems), it is once again whole and at this stage, complete.
Check out the comparison shot, before and after - the difference in length was a half an inch.
Along with the sculpt work that replaced that which was reduced and adjusted during the resize, I made sculpt changes to the creature's cranium, completed the detail behind the head and neck of the doomed pilot and reworked the sculpt of the hands to appear more bony and less fleshed out. I actually still have a bot of dremeling to do to the hands...and a moment ago I said this was complete (rolls eyes) LOL!
Next step, taking a break so I can get back to work on other projects. That being said, I know how I am and when there's a step needing to be done it will drive me crazy till it's complete so don't expect this project to be tabled anytime soon. BUT...believe I have the luxury of multitasking now LOL! Thinking about building up the remaining front of the chair, where the "canon" will sit. I'll have a better explanation in the update video that will follow up next week.
Thanks for checking in on my latest update! Hope you enjoy the pics! More to come!

Happy weekend everyone! Took a group shot of some of the 3.75" figure work I'm building right now - you'll notice some new additions, older projects breathing new life. I'll do a breakdown of these future works in an upcoming update coming soon. Still pacing myself, avoiding burnout and enjoying the custom hobby. #starwars #customactionfigures #sculpture #miniature #avesclay #expandeduniverse #legends

Sculpt Update (IMAGES) on my 1:18 scaled Space Jockey - ALIENS 1979. Sculpted using Aves FIXIT Sculpt.
I've posted a video as well so please check that out. youtu.be/LL6moVvkzkI
I "dremeled" out a chasm to insert a separate sculpted piece of tubing that will be sculpted over to become a permanent fixture. I also carved out a portal to insert the "guard" that goes down the back of the chair, parallel to the interior tubing. Some adjustments need to be made and additional sculpting needs to be added but I'm very pleased with how it all fits.
One step closer to finishing the back of the chair!
Hope you enjoy the photos! Thanks again for all the comments and support! More updates coming!

Sculpt update on the Space Jockey - 1:18 scale, ALIEN 79.
Using Aves FIXIT Sculpt...
Finished sculpting the right arm of the creature Happy to begin building more of the chair itself. Actually, I'm not really certain where the body ends and the chair begins LOL! I think that's what's so intriguing behind H.R. Giger's creation and why so many are frustrated with the Prometheus Engineer chair.
That controversy aside, the control sticks are in the works, and I've started the build on the back and sides of the chair. The piece weighs in at 10.5 lbs so far! I need it to be heavy to be able to comfortably hold the towering "cannon" that will eventually be jetting away from the fossilized pilot.
More updates coming! Hope you enjoy the update and thanks again for your continued interest in my work!! ❤

Update on the Space Jockey sculpt - 1:18 scale, ALIEN 79.
Images were taken with my smartphone so apologies for the poorer quality.
So I have shortened the body of the sculpt to its correct proportions. Time to mend both pieces back together. To do this I will use a mix of styrene and epoxy. Styrene, to weld the sides into place and the epoxy to fill in and patch up the gaps of the sculpt itself. The sides of the piece will be covered with epoxy as well but that will come later in the sculpt.
Images show the pieces when they were separate and the final mend. All is right with the world.
Now to sculpt the area again, including slightly smaller hands and a build on the forward section. I also need to finish the details to the back which were put on hold while I got this looming obstacle out of the way.
More to come! Thanks for the continued interest!

1.31.22 Sculpt Update - Skorr - Star Wars Marvel Classics: The Bounty Hunter of Ord Mantell. 1:18 scale.
I guess this can be considered a "10-year Challenge" meme although I think it's been a little more than 10 years since the original Skoor head sculpt was created.
If you've followed my last update, you know that I decided to rework the sculpt I did all those years ago. The original had issues - the epoxy blending was bad, too many harsh lines...and I wasn't as confident in my facial sculpting to take on features like the nose and a detailed mouth. The ear left a lot to be desired as well. I'm not knocking my own work...for the time I think it turned out great. There's nothing wrong with critiquing your work and understanding what you can improve upon with future projects. But now, with a little more experience under my belt, and feeling more comfortable with the material I use, I'm confident I can create an improved version.
So here's the updated sculpt! I pretty much started with a clean slate for the face. Much of the cybernetic portion of the sculpt required minimal updates. I think it's a much cleaner presentation and captures what I feel is the attitude of the bounty hunter...although that will be seen easier when a splash of paint is introduced. Still needs a little tweaking.
Of course, there will be a head variant (when do I not have one LOL) - A closed-mouth variant will come soon once I have a copy of this one to modify.
Next is the neck joint and the beginning work to the body. I'm gathering as many references as I can of the bounty hunter and so far and am confident I will give it a fair representation. I'm really digging some of these classic Marvel Star Wars characters...some of which are very bizarre! LOL!
More updates to come this week! Took a slew of images so stand by! Thanks for your continued interest in my work!

Build/Sculpt update on the Nostromo Sleep Chamber - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale.
Focus has been fitting the sleeping Parker figure snuggly into his chamber. This is the last of the seven passengers to be "put to bed" so to speak.
The bedding was sculpted using Aves FIXIT sculpt, allowed to cure a few hours then shaped to the contours of Parker so the fit can be snug and exact. I don't need him to be rolling around in the chamber pod.
So each chamber pod is unique to their character. Next will be some patch work to clean up the chamber pods - Small air holes from the casting that need to be filled and sanded.
I have several pod canopies that need to be completed with sculpted framework. Then I have to figure out how to present the chamber with pod doors both closed and opened. I need to figure that out before I begin to attach each pod to the central hub and fill seams.
I have three more characters to mold and cast - Sleeping Ash, Sleeping Kane and Sleeping Dallas. I have castings for the remaining crew.
I may attempt to mold/cast each of the pods as well. With them having unique contours to the bedding, it would suck to have to sculpt all that again if I decided to replicate another chamber down the road.
Anyway, I ramble as usual. Thanks to those that stuck with it and read through the entire description. I sometimes feel I waste my time even explaining my creative process these days. I sometimes feel I do it more for myself than anyone else LOL!
More to come! Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

7.5.22 Sculpt update on Falco Sang - Bouthy Hunter/Assassin from the Dark Horse comic series Star Wars: Dark Times.
Been several weeks since I made any progress on this figure. This update centers on the alternate head sculpt.
After looking over the character studies Doug Wheatley did for the story arc, I made a small change to the bridge of the character's nose by adding a dorsal hump to the bridge. I also added the hair and recently detailed the ears more as the initial sculpts looked too simplified and a little large in proportion.
I'm only going to update with the more recent images taken but you can find more of my progression when I upload all the images over the past several weeks on my FLICKR photostream soon...I'll post a link once updated.
Working on some better articulation to the waist and will sculpt the lower legs and feet soon.
More to come! Thanks again for your continued interest in my work!!! It never gets old to inspire and seek inspiration from other great artists in the custom community.

Sculpt update on Starkiller: Cybernetic Reconstruction. A skin that was offered for players of the Lucasarts game, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.
1:18 scale. Sculpt using Aves FIXIT Sculpt, a two-part epoxy.
This will be the final update on potential project returns for the year as I am ready to get back to work on the current projects I have been updating you all on over the past several months.
New 2022 images of a sculpt I shelved back in 2014. Again, time moves swiftly and with little forgiveness - before you know it, a decade has almost passed. Like some of my works in progress back then, this one will need a bit of TLC to bring the idea up to date with what's been learned in skill and in reference material.
I need to rework the head sculpt a bit, adjusting the few teeth shown, blending in the seams from multiple sessions and completing the cybernetic detail around the exposed eye.
The upper body and upper arms need some love too. Mainly just a cleanup. Looking forward to moving on with this piece - I always found this version of Starkiller to be the most disturbing...which is probably why I chose to make a figure of him LOL!
More to come! Updates on current projects coming soon. Just enjoy bringing some of these older projects back into the light where they deserve. There are so many projects I have in the coffers, waiting to be worked on again. Happy to have them ❤ - Thanks again for the comments and continued interest. Happy to answer any questions.
