Addison Hutton
Arch Street United Methodist was organized in 1862 and built on a former coal yard between 1864 and 1870. During most of the 20th century, Arch Street UMC was the resident bishop’s home church and the site of 40 Methodist conferences. Now an active and diverse Center City congregation, it hosts many community and social groups, including regular workshops about Native American heritage.

Presently located in Merion, PA but beginning in January 2010, Galleries 14-18 will be closed for preparation of the art collection to move to Philadelphia. " in a twelve-acre arboretum, the Foundation is home to one of the world's largest collections of Impressionist, Post-Impressionist and early Modern paintings, with extensive holdings by Picasso, Matisse, Cézanne, Renoir and Modigliani, as well as important examples of African sculpture.
The top of our table at the Boston Pops concert we attended at Symphony Hall. The three of us "shared" it with one or two others (not sure which). A program, a drinks menu, a crumpled envelope, a pile of paper napkins, the stand that held our table number (T3), and the remnants of somebody else's drink -- just the kind of stuff that a table like this will accumulate.
This was Linda's Mother's Day and (belated) birthday present. Keith Lockhart led the Pops in a concert honoring Leonard Bernstein (West Side Story), "one of America's greatest composers and conductors," to mark the 90th anniversary of his birth. This year is also the 100th anniversary of the birth of Leroy Anderson -- probably best known for the songs Sleigh Ride, The Syncopated Clock, and Blue Tango -- and we heard some of his music, too.
People rushed the street after the Phillies victory...a night to remember. This was before Broad Street got too wrecked...

One of the statues above the side balconies at Symphony Hall where we attended a Boston Pops concert. The stars were light projections left over from the orchestra's performance of John Philip Souza'a "Stars and Stripes Forever," one of their signature selections.

A huge bunch of red and black balloons were suspended from the ceiling but never released. This was the afternoon concert. Maybe they were being saved for the concert later that evening.

The Avenue of the Arts the section of the cities designated arts cultural district, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania,
It includes many of the city's cultural institutions, most notably the theatre district south of City Hall. The availability of public transportation makes Avenue of the Arts highly accessible to visitors.
The name originated in a strategy by mayor Ed Rendell to redevelop South Broad Street in Centre City. The area is overseen by the non-profit organization Avenue of the Arts, Inc. led by Executive Director Karen Lewis.
It is the locale for many of the city's large theatres, including the Kimmel Centre (home of the Philadelphia Orchestra), the Academy of Music, Merriam Theatre, Wilma Theatre, Liacouras Centre, and Suzanne Roberts Theatre. Buildings for the University of the Arts are located just south and east of the Kimmel Centre; the Merriam Theatre is often used for high-end productions involving the school.
Philadelphia International Records' offices and gift shop is also located along this strip. Just south of the strip is the Clef Club of Jazz and Performing Arts, and on Broad Street in this vicinity, just north of City Hall, is the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, which, founded in 1805, is America's oldest art school and museum and boasts a distinguished collection of American art.

I all the time stuff my freezer full of giant plastic sacks of breasts, but I hardly ever pause to think about chickens enraged. It's funny!
Do you want 2 frenchfries and a sack of Herr's Cheese Popcorn!

I just discovered this group.... my goal for 2008 was to break through my difficulties in meeting strangers through photography. I met Gail at the Mummers Parade in Philadelphia on New Year's day. She was my first official stranger portrait of 2008.

Before a Boston Pops concert at Symphony Hall, a man and a woman squeezed their way between tables, chairs, and other people to get to their seats. We had the same problem. The tables get moved around, the chairs get moved around, and even the people get moved around -- because with the tables and chairs jumbled they may mistakenly end up in somebody else's place, as we did.
