Aquella tarde después de las emociones vividas en la convivencia de la quedada , fue como mágica como si un druida me cambiara el cielo la luz mi animo pues desde el desvío hacia Gernika hasta donde acaba la carretera siempre a la derecha que hice la foto del surf todo fue increíble y recorrí ese trecho de carretera varias veces y siempre con luces distintas ...hasta la lluvia acudió...Ver avenas locas en la orilla del mar me llamo la atención, ya tengo en la galería una foto de avenas locas, y entonces tratando de hacerlo lo mejor posible, hice esta foto.
Somos ricos cuando tenemos salud, familia, amigos, comida y una amistad real. Todo lo demás son lujos.

I found this grass captivating with its progression of seeds on a single stem, from a vital iridescent green to a bleached papery skeleton.
Common name: Common wild oat, wild oat.
Botanical name: Avena fatua.
Family: Poaceae.
Taken on one of my walks around the Mountainside neighbourhood of Gordon's Bay, Western Cape, South Africa.

Avena is a genus of Eurasian and African plants in the grass family. Collectively known as the oats, they include some species which have been cultivated for thousands of years as a food source for humans and livestock. They are widespread throughout Europe, Asia and northwest Africa. Several species have become naturalized in many parts of the world, and are regarded as invasive weeds where they compete with crop production. All oats have edible seeds, though they are small and hard to harvest in most species. Source Wikipedia.
A wonderful place to visit is the relatively secluded Hortus Alkmaar, on the edge with the town of Sint Pancras. In the photo the inset is of the late-medieval church of Sint Pancras. Among other things, the saint was known as a harbinger of health. Nestled against the church's walls you can just see a set of beehives. Perhaps some of those nectar-gatherers also venture out to the Hortus not very far away.
That Hortus is particularly good on all kinds of nutritional and medicinal plants. It is very carefully tended and the thematics are well-done and expertly cultivated.
I don't know about you, but when I was young cereal fields abounded with Cornflowers. Most are now gone due to modern intensive cropping. But here in this Hortus - which also displays many cereals! - there are lots of our wonderfully blue Centaurea cyanus. In the photo it's next to ripening oats still in their husks.
If you walk along the river at this time, you will come across this impressive oat (Avena fatua). It is said to be another name for Embaku, which is a cultivated grain.
