This is a place where time stands still in autumn and you take this time to reflect on life.... Filled with new thoughts, you can walk gratefully back down into the valley.

Another shot from our recent trip to the New Forest. Such a stunning part of the country and one of our favourite places to cycle :)
Many thanks for all the lovely comments and faves on my images. They are very much appreciated :)
Mid hike back from visiting one of the regions majestic hidden gems. A 2.5 hour hike there and back, plus a 3.5 hour drive there and back - but well worth it!
Stories of my photographic adventures and regular muppet moments of mistakes and foul-ups (putting it politely) can be found in my newsletter. Nothing serious, but a good way to pass 10 minutes or so.

The golden autumn colours were glorious in the valley. A hundred or so Fieldfare had arrived eating the berries. ( I was unable to capture them!)
Wonderful warm translucent light on my forest walk…the colours really are beautiful this year.

Loch of Clunie is a small lowland freshwater loch that is located 2 miles (3 km) west of Blairgowrie, Perth and Kinross, Scotland.
The Loch of Clunie has a single island, said to be artificial, which has the remains of Clunie Castle.
The house was designed as a simple L-plan tower house and was built by George Brown Bishop of Dunkeld between 1485 and 1514 as a spiritual retreat. A chapel was dedicated to St Catherine in the house in 1507. The island is surrounded by a dry-stone wall and there is a well designed pier at the south-end of the island, that was constructed in 1512-1513.
The house was burnt down in a fire and was restored at the end of the 18th Century.
It is now currently a ruin as the roof fell in in 1989 and was never rebuilt.
Only by accident I found this little birch forest during a mushroom foray. Fortunately I had my my camera with me providently. I love the colour gradient from the green grass in the foreground to the brown of the ferns in the background.
No, my camera is standing absolutely leveled on that photo. At the shores often is blowing a heavy wind always from one direction. Here, at the westbeach on the Darss at the Baltic Sea, this is happening too. The trees are trying to evade this permanent pressure and standing angular. Sometimes it can be similar in Your life, when everybody around You is bowing down and only You are standing upright. Than You are falling out of the crowd and maybe You start to question Yourself. In this moments You have the choice to believe in what You feel and to remain steadfast ore You bow down like the others. But mind that, You have to pay a price for it, no matter what decision you make.

Leaves of an European beech / Rotbuche (Fagus sylvatica)

A view up Eels Creek from near Apsley.
Brian and I spent quite a bit of time here playing with filters, tripods, and long exposures. This one, however, I took handheld, and it is not an LE.
So why post this one, you ask?
Well, here's the thing; I didn't turn the lens stabilizer function off while I was on the tripod. Hence, that which was supposed to remain sharp in the photos didn't. At least, I assume that it was a stabilizer issue.
Dumb. If anyone has a spare copy of Photography for Dummies, please send it to this poor old man who is obviously suffering from photographer's lame brain.
Thanks.

Woodland photography has eluded me a bit the last couple of years .. Im not really that great at it. I was feeling like Autumn was passing me by a bit so I thought I would have a go this afternoon.
My new circular poloriser really made a difference but the colours were further enhanced in Colour EFEX. I quite enjoyed it but I need a lot more time exploring and a couple of early mornings would be nice with good light.
The Autumn colours look good but are in danger of being blown away! Weather a bit frustrating this week
