a glorious view on Little Mountain.

The first colours of autumn in Japan is at Mt Asahidake in Hokkaido.

Thank you my friends for your faves and comments..cheers.

A group of beeches have settled in the middle of a spruce forest. They can hardly be seen all year round and disappear in the crowd, but now, in autumn, things suddenly look very different.

While the forest floor is covered with green moss everywhere, the fallen leaves of the beech trees have formed an orange-red carpet that can be seen from afar.

Those are the spots I look for as I roam the woods. Once I have found such a place, the search for the "right" perspective begins. It can happen that I just wander around in circles for 20 minutes without even taking the camera out of my backpack.

Sometimes I just move on (usually with some regret) because I just can't find a way to create a harmonious composition. Luckily that wasn't the case here. This young beech tree, which shines towards me here, was a great help.

Autumn tints at Wayoh today

Thank you for your comments

I thought the backlit berries of this Guelder Rose would make a decent photographic subject, set against the light reflected off the turning leaves.

The river Large Röder is a small river. On its way through saxony to brandenburg it passes almost at my house. Here its flowing through beautiful valleys and woodlands, the ideal place for relaxation and recreation. I love walking around here dwelling in my thoughts.

Even by the middle of November last year the autumn colours were slow to develop locally here in the New Forest. This was a scene I'd photographed a number of times before trying to portray the finger-like branches moving across the image but I liked the small amount of atmosphere I got here and the colours that seemed more in keeping with early autumn rather than the 14th November!

A view up Eels Creek from near Apsley.

Brian and I spent quite a bit of time here playing with filters, tripods, and long exposures. This one, however, I took handheld, and it is not an LE.

So why post this one, you ask?

Well, here's the thing; I didn't turn the lens stabilizer function off while I was on the tripod. Hence, that which was supposed to remain sharp in the photos didn't. At least, I assume that it was a stabilizer issue.

Dumb. If anyone has a spare copy of Photography for Dummies, please send it to this poor old man who is obviously suffering from photographer's lame brain.

Thanks.

Leaves and branches in late autumn. Dunnottar woods, Stonehaven

My brother-in-law had a wonderful house in a woodsy plot in the country. The kitchen had a skylight on which the fallen autumn leaves rested. It was a beautiful spot which I will never again visit for he has left the living, and the property has passed into other hands.
