Yesterday, early evening, I went to a friend's house to make macro photos of milk weed pods. When I got there, I found that the milk weed pods were all in the dark. The sun, though, was creating quite a show as it ignited the color of the trees in its path.
I'll be away visiting family in Northumberland for the next week so I'll just be dipping in and out of Flickr.
Happy weekends all round!
Last weekend we discovered a wonderful new walk for Bob about 30 minutes drive from home near the lovely small town of Vidauban. It was a very old Château surrounded by vineyards with paths among the vines where you could walk and a river flowing by it. It was so quiet and a great place to take a dog. What you see in the photo is the back of the Château
A snippet from their website (which explains the unusual design of the Château):
"The estate became national property during the Revolution and it was not until 1802 that the estate fell back into the public domain. Maximin Martin, a wealthy soap maker from Marseille, then acquired the land of Astros. His grandson, Marc Maximin Martin, a keen admirer of Italian art, built a magnificent Château inspired by Tuscan villas in 1860. He passed on the Astros estate to the grandson of his first cousin Joseph Maurel."
The Belt of Venus is an atmospheric phenomenon visible shortly before sunrise or after sunset, during civil twilight. It is a pinkish glow that surrounds the observer, extending roughly 10–20° above the horizon.

A cloud inversion. That's when the normal temperature distribution of air – warm at the bottom, colder as you go up – becomes inverted or flipped upside down. This means you have a cold layer of air trapped at ground level, overlain by warm air.

The salvia in the garden is having a second renaissance with all this fine weather we're experiencing. In our neck of the woods, temperatures are about 10c above normal (about 29/30c each day) and are not expected to do a proper "Autumnal" drop until the end of the month. The nights and mornings are cool so it's a very lovely combination!
Happy Monday and have a great week ahead :-)
