Auto Parts at Frontier Servce and Supply, Rushville, Nebraska.

It was a great day to shoot photos of old orange pickup trucks in Centralia. Here is an old Ford stocking up for itself at this Carquest Auto Parts store. Downtown Centralia has a lot of intact old charm.

This Ford was idling for at least 15 minutes in this spot, so I'm hoping its driver was after a starter solenoid and not just trying to keep the cockpit warm in the 48ºF air (still felt awfully nice with the sun's rays beating down).

This small section is the only part of the mall that was not redeveloped for Advance Auto Parts. Inside it is a very small resemblance of how the rest of Crossroads Mall used to look. There is a very short video on YouTube of this section of the mall from a couple of years ago that reinforces that this section of the mall was probably minimally touched (if you look closely in the video, you can see the original escalators).

This is the former Advance Auto Parts Store Support Center/Headquarters at 5008 Airport Road NW, Roanoke, VA.

This property opened as Crossroads Mall in 1961 as the first enclosed and air conditioned shopping center in Virginia.

In 2009/2010, the mall was converted mostly to the Advance Auto Parts Support Center. In November 2018, Advance Auto Parts moved their headquarters to Raleigh, NC but kept this facility open for certain operations (and they even renewed their lease in 2019). Information on when this facility completely closed is hard to find, but from what I read, AAP sent their employees to work remotely in 2020 for COVID, and in August, reduced their staffing, which probably means it temporarily closed for the pandemic for its last time.

According to JLL, most of this property is available for lease. The only section that isn't is a small section in the center of the building that is leased to a dentist (the dentist has operated out of the building likely since the conversion).

This old receipt booklet was found in the front room of the old service station/auto parts store. The store used to be quite the place at one time. The entire front room has great shelving and cabinets.

In June my husband and I took my mom, dad, and brother around to some interesting abandoned places in our part of Montana. This is my return to the old Fallon gas station/auto parts store. As far as I could tell someone used to live in the back of the store as well. It's a really neat old piece of history that is decaying fast. The trees around it are slowly crushing it into the ground.

Carquest Auto Parts, 2415 Main Street, Miles City, Montana.

When I was a youth the Carquest auto parts store in Miles City was known as Valley Motor Supply and it was located on the corner of N 5th St and Pleasant Street. The building shown in this photo was known as "A&T Supply" -- a farm and ranch supply store.

I believe that many years before that this was a grocery store -- an I.G.A. grocery store, possibly "Jack's I.G.A.".

This is the back of the old Fallon gas station/auto parts store. I have not ever seen a building that is actually being crushed by a tree until I saw this place.

THIS PHOTO OF "BONES LIONBERGER" WAS TAKEN IN THE 1980S. LIONBEGER'S STORE WAS ONE OF THE MOST INTERESTING PLACES IN TRENTON, MISSOURI BACK IN THE 1950S. THERE WAS A MAID-RITE ON 9TH STREET THAT EXPELLED THAT DELICIOUS AROMA OF STEAMED BURGERS LONG BEFORE IT APPEARED. THERE WAS A 5 CENT PIN BALL MACHINE. WHENEVER I VISITED TRENTON AS A BOY, LIONBERGERS AND THE MAID-RITE WERE THE PLACES TO GO FOR FUN AND AMUSEMENT. TRENTON IN THE 1950S WAS AN EXPERIENCE THAT I AM GLAD I HAD. THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER TIME LIKE THE 50S.....

But I enjoyed looking at the construction site's sand in the winter sunshine. The construction site was so much more appealing to look at than I knew the finished project would be, I caught myself wishing for a fresh wave of economic depression to delay the building's completion.

If you look at everything left behind in this old building it gives you clues to what it used to be. By the looks of the things in the front room it used to be a service station and auto parts store.

This old building sits at the edge of Fallon, Montana. It's in very bad shape, the floor is falling into the basement, and the tree is crushing the top of the building. I had no idea what it was until I walked up and looked through the windows. This old building seems to have been an auto parts store and gas station, and the owner may have lived in the back of the store.

This was found in the front room of the old service station/auto parts store. It used to be quite the place at one time. The entire front room has great shelving and cabinets.
