“Non tutte le prigioni hanno le sbarre: ve ne sono molte altre meno evidenti da cui è difficile evadere, perché non sappiamo di esserne prigionieri. Sono le prigioni dei nostri automatismi culturali che castrano l'immaginazione, fonte di creatività.”

Only a short remark for all my friends:

my friends, Slowly, the desire to photograph returns. I'll limit myself to one or two pictures a week, I think. I appreciate the exchange with you, but please not as an automatism. I have to practice long-suffering, and if I react sporadically, that's not a sign of disinterest. Thank you for your understanding and see you soon in this wonderful world of impressions.

An old doodle blended with the stunning echeveria that's growing in our lounge. Happy weekend! Oh I love the weekend.

"Automatism as a term is borrowed from physiology, where it describes bodily movements that are not consciously controlled like breathing or sleepwalking. Psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud used free association and automatic drawing or writing to explore the unconscious mind of his patients."

Eben noch als Idee notiert, habe ich neugierig eine farbige Fassung der Zeichnung entworfen. Ich habe meine Malerei aus der Palette gleichzeitig mit dem 1qm thematisiert.

Just noted as an idea, I curiously designed a colored version of the drawing. I have themedisiert my painting from the palette simultaneously with the 1qm.

This Challenge wasn`t as easy as i thought. When you are used to process images with focused details then you have to make a change according to your automatism in your mind if you need to shoot blurred, not in focus images :)

What you see is an bottle of Eau de Tolilette ! Here you can check out how it looks sharply in focus :)

"automatism refers to creating art without conscious thought, accessing material from the unconscious mind as part of the creative process . . . [or using] some elements of chance to create works"

for our The 12.12 Project theme of automatism this month... chance (and wind + pelting rain) definitely had a big hand in this one

Happy weekend dear friends!!!

Born to the families of a goldsmith and watchmaker, the young Juan Miró was drawn towards the arts community that was gathering in Montparnasse and in 1920 moved to Paris, France. There, under the influence of the poets and writers, he developed his unique style: organic forms and flattened picture planes drawn with a sharp line. Generally thought of as a Surrealist because of his interest in automatism and the use of sexual symbols (for example, ovoids with wavy lines emanating from them), Miró’s style was influenced in varying degrees by Surrealism.

On 10x15 cm paper I draw as a first note often ideas, that will later be transformed into colored paintings. In a ring binder, the resulting leaves are collected, until I find time for another execution. Do not forget.

"She" was my first SLR: the fantastic Canon A-1.

My brother recommended it to me. It was a revolutionary device with new automatisms, at least for the time I bought it: 1982.

I bought it in the Base Exchange inside the (now defunct) Mather Air Force Base, in Sacramento, California, USA.

And it has been my companion for many years until I moved to the Nikon brand and the digital world.

But here it is with me, and it still works perfectly.

A couple of pages for my sottoripa's shot on the weekly paper "Corriere della Sera Magazine".

Director asked 62 photograpers for an italian portrait in the same day: 14 01 2009.

Had not been my choice, but it seems they liked.

Two remarks:

- commercial - In one day, "corsera" sells about one million of copies and each one is seen by several people that grows the total number of views. For comparsion, the freaklance photo-archive i've found, in more than two years made just less than one hundred thousand views.

- technical - In photography just your sight for composition matters and it's better to go out shooting rather than lieing around your monitor. For example, this picture had been shot in automatism with auto wb in jpg normal and the file i gave was less than two Mb, without any post-production.

(strobist info for my morning excitement: just two sb800 from the sides bounced off of the ceiling because i discovered my other sb was died... )
