Parker and Brett shoot the breeze.
I tried to get this as close as I could to the photo in "The Book of Alien". Reasonably obscure reference, but I liked the way the original shot was set up and how my eye was drawn to the characters.

So this isn't exactly a pure Lego build but I just like the minimates facehugger so much that I wanted to make this. The reason this facehugger is the best, in my opinion, is that you can get a minifig head and their hair beneath it :)
This scene is based on the autodoc from the movie combined with the original artwork of Ron Cobb.

Die Bremsscheibe ist der radseitige Teil einer
Scheibenbremse, auf den die am Bremssattel befestigten Bremsbeläge wirken, um die Drehbewegung zu verzögern. Sie ist fast immer punktsymmetrisch zur Achsmitte, meistens kreisrund und besteht aus der eigentlichen Bremsfläche und der abgesetzten Achsbefestigung.

Build update on the AutoDoc medical station - Nostromo - ALIEN 79. Working on the overhead section of the med tower - Figuring the light portal locations along with the small compartments tucked just underneath. I scrapped the initial overhead as it was too wide - it should be roughly the same width as the medical bed (perhaps a little wider). Hope to get the overhead done this week, see Covenant and begin new sculpts next week. :) ...so much more to come

Sculpt progress on Captain Dallas, Auto-Doc torso variant. 1:18 scale - ALIEN 79. Still a work in progress as I need to add details and find some appropriate masks for the two figures. The upper torso and sculpted gown is held at the waist by a magnet so it can easily be switched out with his standard torso sculpt. Complete the variant to Ash over a year ago but have attached the image again to show how this all works. Decided to move forward with one of the Kane variants I want to create - the Facehugger attack version. ALIEN 1979 - 1:18 scale. This version will be of Kane in the Autodoc having the helmet cut away revealing the facehugger for the first time. I took one of the helmets I have on hand and cutting it down the middle carefully using an xacto knife....then adding magnets so that both parts can be brought back together and finally distressing the helmet to resemble acid burn and heat from the laser cut. Used a small lighter to melt away the helmet section and coasted the inside of the clear dome with super glue then padding with cloth to get the weatherized ruin of the interior. Ash - Sleep Chamber. ALIEN 79, 1:18 scale. Finishing up on the Kane sculpt for the sleep chamber diorama so I'm moving on to the next bunk buddy, Ash. Anyone notice the dead giveaway Ash was a robot during the opening sleep chamber scene?...He was perfectly prone, figures straight and rigid. Anyway, working this figure the same as Kane. After performing a re-enactment of his most famous 1947 acheivement in being the first man to break the sound barrier, Brigadier General 'Chuck' Yeager USAF exits the front seat of an Edwards AFB based F-15B Eagle.
Considering that when this photo was taken in 1996 he was a sprightly 73 years old.......it is testament to how much of the 'Right Stuff' this man has.
The 'Glamorous' is in recognition of the name he gave the Bell X-1, the aircraft he made that epic acheivement in, which he called 'Glamorous Glennis' in homage to his wife!

Build update to the AutoDoc medical station-NOSTROMO-ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale. Began building up the central section of the room, Completed the monitor suite above the bed as well as the surgical tool locker. I'm thinking of using a sticker/decal for the tools instead of cutting then out piece by piece. Began working on the overhead which needs some revisions after realizing it's too wide and the front isn't supposed to be curved if only slightly. Sorry for the painters tape in the shot but it's necessary to get the feel for what I'm doing. Sculpt progress on "Sleep Chamber" Kane - Static sculpt - ALIEN - 1:18 scale. Completed the "sleeping" Kane sculpt. One of seven figures that will fit into the sleep chamber diorama. All the limbs were pinned into position, glued in spots, then sculpted over using FIXIT. Then refined...which I still have a little more to do. Sculpt update on Kane's Death Shroud - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale. Began sculpting detail over the frame I created early last week. The top portion of the shroud will be separate, attached by magnets. Created a thin shell/frame for this piece to be sculpted over later. The head sculpt of Kane will easily be seen through the shroud, along with a variant that is similar to the sculpt for the prop miniature. Finally replaced the OEM brakes with fresh new Brembo Xtra Line Cross Drilled brake discs with Ferodo pads.
They look absolutely great with open style wheels, like the Monaco Mirabeau wheels.

Sculpt progress on Kane: Death Shroud - 1:18 scale - ALIEN 79. Many have been asking me to do this figure, which is again, a static piece but an interesting one nonetheless. My idea will encompass a few aspects...
1. The prop that was created for the airlock sequence.
2. The actual shroud that was to be used, including the photoshopped image of Kane's head seen within.
3. The deleted scene outside the observation bubble where Kane's bloated body is seen drifting outside.
I took a cast of an upper torso which was originally created for the Sleep Chamber Kane and have literally sculpted a frame around it using Aves FIXIT. I will make adjustments before sculpting the details. The head piece will have a partial clear canopy which Kane's head can be seen within. This shot is a very early work in progress - forgive the printed background as I needed to use plastic beneath the sculpt to it wouldn't stick to the surface while curing.

Sculpt progress on Kane: Death Shroud - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale. Once again, a static figure of Kane's final sendoff when his body is shot out of the airlock into a starry abyss.
First step was to build a rough shape of the shroud as shown in a production photo of the physical garment that was used. This will not be matching the small wood carving that was made for the miniature shoot but will include some identifiable features from it.
So, first step - create a rough shape using FIXIT.
Next step, begin refining the shape to create an exaggerated frame to sculpt over. Complete. Looks like he's all locked up in a sleeping bag LOL!

Last month I completed a sculpt of a male base body which I hoped to replicate and use for a variety of figures - all static, non-articulated. I made a mold of the figure last week and had some time to cast several copies last night. I hope to use these for Kane, Dallas, Ash and Brett bodies for the sleep chamber (Parker needs a larger frame) as well as Kane with facehugger in the AutoDoc. #alien #nostromo #kane #facehugger #autodoc #sithfire30

After the passing of John Hurt I felt it wouldn't be appropriate to drop updates of his likeness pertaining to Kane sleeping or deceased...perhaps nobody would have cared but that's just me. Anyway, first off is an update of Kane in the sleep camber. My plan with the sleep chamber diorama is to have a static sculpt of each character quietly sleeping in their respective chamber. Kane is the first of the series. I have a male body that I have cast to create the static pieces but the parts need to be wired together in different poses. Doesn't make sense if they are all sleeping in the same position right? Looking a little rough right now but that will change with the next update. 'The Boston Globe's' [loss against its buying price was a massive 93%](www.breitbart.com/Big-Journalism/2013/08/03/New-york-time...) for 'The New York Times Company'........ something like a billion dollars in twenty years? Newsweek's value was already only nominal when it was sold to The Daily Beast a while back by 'The (Washington) Post Company' ......... but muddling it with 'The Daily Beast' for a few years can only have damaged Newsweek's value as an individual title further I can not imagine that it was a seriously expensive purchase now.
Lets face it. Things are looking a little tricky in the world of newspapers and news magazines.
A while back I had dinner with [Katharine Weymouth](www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.vanityfair.com/da...) the publisher of the Washington Post in DC . She was telling me some of the issues in managing the declining circulation, the losses and the issues of having to look for cuts in staff etc......... I said how terrible it must be to be operating under those constricting pressures...... she said yes it was tough and she was glad I had said that ......... she said she was fed up with men in particular saying things like ....... publisher of the Washington Post that must be a fun job ! ............ implying that you should enjoy wielding the axe...............
She did strike me as a person who really cared deeply about the newspaper, its values and its journalism ....... and indeed its staff. So I am glad she is staying on under the new ownership as the publisher even though she is obviously part of the previous family that are now selling the paper and their controlling interest to [Jeffrey P. Bezos](www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.achievement.org/a...).
I have to say especially given the circumstance I think Bezos is about the best purchaser the Washington Post could possibly hope for. He is a pretty on the ball guy...... being the founder and CEO of Amazon. He himself seems interested in the values and journalism of The Washington Post. And he as one of the world's richest people has very deep pockets and could sustain losses at The Post if necessary. But critically he is also a very very innovative web savvy guy used to testing and executing new strategy. Just maybe he can come up with the Holy Grail............ the 21st century digital first and yet still profitable business model for a newspaper .............. In this case a newspaper with a great history and a well deserved reputation for important reporting and ethical journalism.......... maybe he can keep all that ....... and yet make it pay?
Its a tall order......... but here is wishing [Jeffrey P. Bezos](en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeff_Bezos)., [Katharine Weymouth](en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Katharine_Weymouth) and all at The Washington Post staff success in creatively innovating their way back to good times, I would like to sit opposite Katharine Weymouth again one day over dinner in DC and be able to say with proper justification: " Publisher of the Washington Post ? What a brilliant fun job !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! " :-))))))))))

Here above is a photograph of a massive paper Mill producing huge paper rolls for printing Newspapers and Magazines ........... from trees grown and felled then fed into this mighty plant down in South Carolina.......... I don't suppose a place like this is quite as busy these days as just about everything is online and felled trees and newspaper become the stuff of yesterday.
