An automotive chassis from the mind of the machine.

Here they constrained the computer algorithm to use straight struts between joints. Yet, it looks so organic, like so many of the products of an iterative algorithm (evolution, deep learning, genetic programming, etc).

This Golden Age Flash 3D model was created using Autodesk Maya and was rendered using Mental Ray. This model is based on the DC comics Flash from the 1940s known as Jay Garrick. The scene uses Final Gathering, Global Illumination, and Image Based Lighting as indirect light sources. There are two fill lights in the scene. Currently, I am still working on setting up the skeleton.

captured on the walls in real-time by Stephanie Crowley. She is working on the summary of my talk (long version here) and some random three-word summaries from others in blue. More examples below.

And here is a new teaser video by Autodesk about this IDEAS brain spa.

Based off the original 1996 ILM practical model, the 1998 Santa Barbara Studios digital files, and design updates from John Eaves in 2002.

The Enterprise E was a awesome Team build at Digital Domain for Star Trek: Nemesis. I was responsible for the modeling warp nacelles, dry dock, and the massive collision damage that matches the oversized miniature. I designed five decks of damaged interiors based off set survey data.

I grew up on Star Trek, and contributing to this franchise was a dream come true.

This is a School Building one my colleagues at Autodesk put together using Revit Architecture.

We then re-used the data in Autodesk Inventor to develop the required mechanical\manufacturing products.

A reimagining of my model depicting the Europa Clipper Mission spacecraft.

Rendered using Autodesk Maya and layer compositing done in Adobe Photoshop. Planet textures sourced from the Celestia Motherload.

The 3D model was created in AutoCAD 2009 and imported and styled in Autodesk Impression 2 in about 30 seconds.

I had the absolute pleasure of meeting and talking with the Autodesk founder John walker in June 2007 in Switzerland where he resides. He is a really nice and intelligent person.

I was recently asked a question about sharing data via Autodesk Inventors BIM Exchange tool. The question was about material consistency from one to the other.

These two screenshots show the model in Inventor with textures and colours and the same thing in Revit when opening the .adsk file into Revit.

As you can see, they both have the same colours and textures applied!

Autodesk Inventor Fusion has been available as a technology preview for a few years now but the 2012 version is now included with most of Autodesk geometry creation and simualtion tools.

Theres a great simplify tool (shown here) for working with data that needs simplifying for simulation and analysis
