Soon to be condos. This little truck has been moving around the complex for weeks. No one has the heart to put it in the dumpster. A worker tried to give it to me....
I liked the way the sun reflected off the top floors of this office building but not off the lower floors and the higher floors that weren't perpendicular.
The ever changing Austin Texas Skyline. Soon, the tallest building in Texas will be to the right of this frame. These are mostly residential, hotels, small companies, or mixed residential/retail buildings. There are nine construction cranes in this photo.
Happy Fence Friday...HFF!!!!
I went on some new trails Wednesday. And on the trail was this bridge with a tree limb growing across it. I know! Kinda strange.
Happy spring everyone. I went hiking yesterday to celebrate it..:)
South By South West, SXSW, is pretty much over. I sorta feel sorry for the people that travel thousands of miles to get here, because the weather wasn't the best. It was cooler and wetter than usual. In fact, it looks like we're going to have a wet spring, which is fine with me. More wildflowers..:)
Hope you have a great weekend
I went to meet some friends at a local restaurant and this guy was fearless. I might add that this is a enclosed area, but he flew in and I think you can see what he's after. As you can see, from the image below, he got what he was after. I might add, that the table was right next to me. I could almost reach out and touch him..;)
I will only try to identify two species in this little jungle of lichens. The yellow lichens are definitely Teloschistes chrysamthalmus, and the long seaweedy gray-green species at lower right may be Ramalina celastri. (My expensive lichen guidebook was destroyed in the Onion Creek flood in 2013, sadly.)
Lichens are fungi that form a beneficial association with algae or photosynthetic cyanobacteria. "Fungi that have discovered agriculture," as one lichen expert put it.
Recently, much to my pleasure I met the very talented artist Shanny Lott of Austin Texas.www.shannysstudio.com/shanny.html Sort of a "chance" meeting actually. Quite a down to earth genuine person, spell that "Texas Woman" and did I say talented Artist? During the course of our conversation I happened to show her some photographs of Sunflowers I had taken the day earlier. Much to my absolute surprise she asked if she could paint this one. Which is now hanging in the dining room of August E's, www.august-es.com/ a rather upscale restaurant here in Fredericksburg, Texas.
Today was my first day to see this oil on canvas rendition of my photograph! Ecstatic would be the word to describe my feelings, having seen it first hand. Shanny... Thank You My Friend
Here's a shot of the famous overlook of the Pennybacker (360) Bridge (located on route 360). This bridge is located about 20 minutes Northwest of Austin, TX. It's a famous overlook with a beautiful view overlooking the top of the bridge with Austin Lake sweeping through.

Not my dog, but he looked like such a great dog the way he took the vanguard of the group and forged ahead. This is the best time of year, here in Austin, TX to go hiking because the weather is just perfect. And, with that rain we had, there should be a lot of wildflower popping up all along the trails.
I did a little window shopping to see if I would wear any of the shoes and the styles/brand were not any I would choose. There are many reasons people toss shoes on power lines and cables.

This is from the Umlauf Sculpture Garden & Museum is a natural oasis in South Austin dedicated to the work of 20th century American sculptor Charles Umlauf. Every season we shows off our art in a different way, allowing new perspective on the sculptures.
Extra information:
The Umlauf Sculpture Garden & Museum will also include the sculptor’s personal sculpture garden located on two adjoining acres up the hill, overlooking the Museum grounds. Angeline Umlauf began creating this unique space in the early 1950s, planting native flowering shrubs around the sculptures that Umlauf moved out of his studio as he finished them. Their six children dug paths and edged them with stones they took out of the flower beds. It was the pleasure that their many guests experienced in their private garden that inspired Charles and Angeline Umlauf to give it, along with their home, his studio and 168 pieces of sculpture to the City they loved.
Note: The bronze sculptures in the garden have been waxed so visitors who are blind or visually impaired and others can touch the sculptures. The wax protects the bronze from being damaged by the salts and oils in exploring fingers.
