❤ Help Save The Aussie Furbabies. As an Australian, I cannot tell you how heavy it makes my heart to read headlines stating. Koalas are facing extinction.

The Australian wildlife is rare, unique and so very fragile. Help preserve it for us and our future generations.

As an international community we can make a difference, so I reach out to you my Flickr friends to bring our plight to your hearts and pockets.

So many little lives have been lost in the recent Australian Bushfires and so many more are still seriously injured and vulnerable urgently requiring our help. ❤

if you can : www.wires.org.au/donate/emergency-fund or through any of the verified listed charities online.

Hey, hey, hey, hey

Ohhh...

Won't you come see about me?

I'll be alone, dancing you know it baby

Tell me your troubles and doubts

Giving me everything inside and out and

Love's strange so real in the dark

Think of the tender things that we were working on

Slow change may pull us apart

When the light gets into your heart, baby

Don't you forget about me

Don't don't don't don't

Don't you forget about me

Will you stand above me?

Look my way, never love me

Rain keeps falling, rain keeps falling

Down, down, down

Will you recognise me?

Call my name or walk on by

Rain keeps falling, rain keeps falling

Down, down, down, down

Hey, hey, hey, hey

Ohhhh...

Don't you try to pretend

It's my feeling we'll win in the end

I won't harm you or touch your defenses

Vanity and security

Don't you forget about me

I'll be alone, dancing you know it baby

Going to take you apart

I'll put us back together at heart, baby

Don't you forget about me

Don't don't don't don't

Don't you forget about me

As you walk on by

Will you call my name?

As you walk on by

Will you call my name?

When you walk away

Oh will you walk away?

Will you walk on by?

Come on, call my name

Will you call my name?

I say:

La la la...

Here's a photo I took while traveling on along The Great Ocean Rd. It's a shot I took at The Twelve Apostles which are between the towns of Port Campbell and Princetown. The name "Twelve Apostles still is used but only 8 are actually still standing. The formation closest to the foreground fell in 2005.

The stacks you are looking at are actually what's left of the coastline, which is composed of limestone. There unique shapes are formed by erosion. Btw these stacks are massive, the one in front is/was 50 meters tall. Another interesting fact is that the rate of erosion at the base of the stones is about 2cm per year!

The flag of Australia is a defaced Blue Ensign: a blue field with the Union Jack in the canton (upper hoist quarter), and a large white seven-pointed star known as the Commonwealth Star in the lower hoist quarter. The fly contains a representation of the Southern Cross constellation, made up of five white stars – one small five-pointed star and four, larger, seven-pointed stars.

The flag's original design (with a six-pointed Commonwealth Star) was chosen in 1901 from entries in a competition held following Federation, and was first flown in Melbourne on 3 September 1901, the date proclaimed as Australian National Flag Day. A slightly different design was approved by King Edward VII in 1903.

The seven-pointed commonwealth star version was introduced by a proclamation dated 23 February 1908. The dimensions were formally gazetted in 1934, and in 1954 the flag became recognised by, and legally defined in, the Flags Act 1953, as the "Australian National Flag".

Semi-candid portrait of a friend's son at his family's annual Australia Day party (January 26).

Our national day is problematic as it is commemorates the arrival of the first European settlers in 1788. The anniverary of federation would be a less racially insensitive date on which to celebrate Australian nationhood but that's January 1st -- most of us would be too hungover. ;)

Clinging to the Memories [155/365] - If you've followed my stream for awhile, I'm sure that you are well aware of my passion for travel. From October 2007-October 2008 I went on a backpacking trip through Australia, Southeast Asia, and the South Pacific, with 90% of the journey being in Australia. It was the most incredible learning experience, adventure, and best year of my life so far. These days, I'm quite happy at home, but once in awhile I get hit with an overwhelming desire to be back in Australia, even if it's only for a few days. Those days are growing more seldom as summer approaches here, but today was one of those random days where 3 people I met abroad emailed me to catch up and laugh about our crazy times on the coast... all 3 were able to relate to my "homesickness". If you've never traveled, get out and buy a plane ticket. It changed my life, and I wouldn't trade the memories made for anything. I reminisce so much that I'm sure everybody I know is sick of hearing about my trip, but it was that amazing. You'll be hearing about it for a long, long time.

Oh, the exciting news about my emails... my friend Elisabeth from Germany (I met her while working at a resort in Queensland, Australia) is coming to Canada in August, and she's going to stay with me for a couple of weeks! So exciting!

For this Thankful Thursday, I'm thankful for all of the amazing trips I've been blessed to be able to take. I'm thankful for every single memory and friendship made along the way!

...I do love you.

A children's story written by Mem Fox that we always read to the children prior to sport's day...or in this case the Olympic games.

(There was once a baby koala, so soft and round that all who saw her loved her. Her name was Koala Lou.

Koala Lou is the first born in a large family. She feels sad because her mother seems too busy to pay her any attention. Perhaps if she wins the tree-climbing at the Bush Olympics her mother might notice her again . . . Koala Lou starts her training right away!)

It is a lovely story about sibling rivalry and trying your hardest that I'm sure a lot of you will have read to your children.

I'm lucky enough to see Koalas in the trees where I work at least twice a year.

IN MORDOR WHERE THE SHADOWS LIE....

I am a bear of very little brain when it comes to politics and 'Operational Matters At Sea Not To Be Discussed' .

But logos, insignias and badges...yeah, I do know a wee bit about those!

So...who else reckons whoever designed the new Aussie Border Force logo was having a bit of a lend?

'Cos I've never seen a more ominously thuggish representation of a person wearing a simple collared shirt and a baseball cap!

The central, shadowed face is exceptionally demonic even without silly sausages mucking around with GIMP freeware photoediting software.

Yet another own goal from the The Ministry Of Charity?

What a cutie! Both of them ;)
