The Mazda MX-5 Club of WA held its first (January) monthly cruise for 2016. Bob Sharpe, cruise leader and organiser took us from Midland up through the hills and back ending at Roco McGlashan's workshop where he is constructing his 1000mph jet driven land speed record maker.

This 1940 Willys gasser looked great. At the Bendigo Rod, Stock and Custom Show 2011. The coupe runs a blown 351 Windsor, C4`box and nine inch diff.

The sticker on the top left says "REAL AUSSIES DRIVE UTES"

Utes are cars with a truck type bed in the back. I only know of 2 types of utes ever sold in the states: the Chevy El Camino and the Ford Ranchero..both in the 70s I think. To see another Aussie ute, check out the Aussie Blog at http://users.tpg.com.au/adsldvb9/blog/2004.09.17.html.

One of many road warning signs when travelling our vast nation down under. This one is on the Nullabor, WA

Aussie the Australian cattle dog is now three months old. He is adjusting to his new home. Our two other dogs are now his best buddies. Aussie's paws are very large and his legs are very long for a puppy. He will be a large dog I'm sure, about 50 lbs we think. Isn't he a handsome fellow? He will enjoy accompanying me on my photo journeys next summer, no doubt about it.

Grid walk for the fans prior to the start of race 4 at the Highlands Motorsport Park on New Zealand's South Island. All of these N.Z photos were taken with my phone, so please forgive the poor quality.

Yes its Australia Day , the 26Th January when the nation celebrates the founding of European settlement in this country . Its the countries official birthday and Emily here is wearing the red , white and blue which are the colours of the Australian flag which is displayed on the top of her head . Apparently its a small battery pack which powers little lights in some of those crazy coloured strands ..

Good on you Emily !

Aussie the Australian Cattle dog (Blue Healer) is now 4 months old (January 18th) He weighs 23.5 pounds, has had all his puppy shots including the rabies shot. He likes to snooze and go for walks. We are looking forward to taking him to the high country for walks on the trails this summer. P.S., He still thinks house training is for sissies, but he is making progress slowly, very slowly.

Taken by me personnally, from 2 rows back - great seats!

A mini aussie friend at the dog beach

Gutted my car broke down on the way over to Santa Pod Friday lunch time then unfortunately the Aussie Outlaw put a hole through a piston in the evening on a 6.7 second pass so I never actually saw the car run.

The car and team have been visiting from Australia having had lots of help from a crown funder and the Banshee Racing team. This was the first Outlaw Anglia to run a 6 second pass and they added a few more 6 second runs while visiting Santa Pod including a quickest ever side by side with Colin Millar also running a 6 at Summer Nationals.

Thank you to everyone who made this trip possible and wish the team a safe trip home.

My very first macro raindrop. Not the best ever I know, and taken in low light during an Aussie thunderstorm - but hopefully I'll improve from here. :)

Nationalistic pride , their popping up every where of late , the good ole Aussie flag a little bit of the old Union Jack and the Southern Cross that goes to make up our national flag . There has been attempts to change it , but its still with us , going back to our roots with the UK and our part , the stars of the Southern Cross which is where we are geographically situated . So thats our flag !

And its raining on this Australia Day and it kept on raining too ...
