Badskirt directions + Canoe Ridge Creations cutting instructions = 12 inch block

12 inches finished. Fabric details are included in the individual pics of each block. I followed Badskirt Amy's tutorial to make them, and Canoe Ridge Creation's Megan's cutting instructions to finish at 12 inches.

Though my first block - the one with the Tammis Keefe dogs - I followed Amy's tutorial but guessed at the cutting sizes, and finished at over 12.5 inches.

My own Foundation Pieced Pattern created for my AusModBee group. Thank you all my fellow Bees for this beautiful gift. Finished size 64.5" x 64.5". Quilted using Aurifil 2530 50wt cotton in hot pink.

Denise's star pattern from Quilter's Cache website

I hope you like them!

Off to the PO with them. They may be a day late. Sorry

This is Jane Davidson's (Quiltjane) beautiful pattern for the February block in the AusMod Bee

'Refractorium' paper-pattern, created by Jane. Now available on her blog - Want it Need it Quilt.

Spoonflower supergirl and hedgehogs, AMH, Push Pin, Love Notes, Flower Press. Not sure of the purple dots.

Badskirt directions + Canoe Ridge Creations cutting instructions = 12 inch block

block made for Charlotte, for March AusModBee

pattern by Brioni Greenberg, from the Fat Quarterly 'Shape Workshop for Quilters' book.

Kona white, slate and bright pink.

blogged - catandvee.blogspot.com.au/2013/03/march-ausmodbee-block-1...

Melody Miller typewiters and hearts + Curly Pops Clark and Edna specs + Metro Living + Center City + Chicopee. And a Timeless Treasures computer keys print.

We have to make 2 sets of blocks that will make a finished 16" block. Block 1 is 4 x 8" blocks.

August Block for AusModBee. We had to chose a word that had some meaning to us and either paper piece or free piece a word. I chose Wisdom as it helps us make sense out of paradox (quote from R Mollison)

Jess sent Sweetwater fabrics to use with the ADD crafter pattern.

They will be even later than they already are as I've misplaced the white background fabric...

Butterfly blocks for Danielle.

And with that I am caught up on all bee blocks, woohoo!

Madrona Road + Peacock Lane + Holiday Happy + Chicopee + Type

Suzuko Koseki +. Kei kerchief girls. Echino buck with specs and owl. Push Pin lego men. Heather Ross gnomes. And I think the treasure hunt fabric is Timeless Treasures, but I'm not sure.

This is the first time I've been in a bee where you have to send out stuff.

It was a big learning curve, quite a bit of work which I will note for future bees ;-)

I was hoping to post them from South Maroubra PO which was open till 2pm but they didn't have big enough envelopes. They will now ship on Monday at my regular PO which is better stocked.

*except for Julie, yours will go out on Wednesday w/ the Weekender pattern.

I'm including return shipping labels cause if you're like me looking for those details takes forever when you want to post something.

I ended up cutting most of the template pieces out of template plastic for those who didn't order templates. Not piece F as I didn't have enough, that's just cut onto freezer paper.

Remember these templates include a seam allowance if you are going to paper piece.

Template A markings (or the red grid lines on the Templar ones) should be aligned with the cut strips to give a consistent angle.

Catherine asked if I wanted the feathers seperately, I think that's a good idea. Then I can mix them up when I'm sewing the top together.

Please DON'T TRIM the blocks, even if they are wonky. Mine were not perfect on the top edge so I assume they may all be a little different due to all the bias edges. I'll trim them back to an average size between all the blocks when I receive them.

Please send back any spare fabric especially the background, which is Bella Dove.

I can piece together your scraps to make more feathers.

Thank you Catherine, Jane, Kirsten and Jess for paying the cost of the templates already.

Would prefer payments go into my Paypal account (lorena at lockenet dot com dot au) or I can email you my bank account details.

The Field Study FQ is a gift :-)

I hope you enjoy making these feathers.

Thank you

I think I will rename this the Frustrating Feather Block.

The block itself comes together beautifully, such a clever pattern especially using the acrylic templates but getting the fabric together for my bee block has not been without its trials and tribulations. My Field Study still hasn't arrived and I took up Jenna's generous offer of some fabric to make my practice block, check yardage required and send these parcels out.

This is especially frustrating given that I paid a bit more to have the templates made in Australia so we could have them in time to start in January.

I've taken lots of photos of the crucial bits ie laying out and cutting the templates, seams and pressing details.

I'm thrilled with how they look and really enjoyed making them. I know Catherine has had fun with it so far too. Unfortunately I undersetimated how much background fabric to leave with Catherine & Jane so I will have to post more to you.

Heather Ross pigs. Happy Zombie gnoma! Lizzy House. Tula Pink. Aneela Hoey. AMH. V+A books.

I really love making these feathers. They look gorgeous in Chicopee.

Shall have them in the post tomorrow Kirsten :-)
