This was shot on a random dark road somewhere 30 minutes outside of Reykjavik that probably only our driver Siggi knows where it's located.
You hear stories of people going to Iceland to see the Northern Lights and not seeing them the entire time there and others getting full-blown auroras with crazy dancing lights. Well, we didn't quite get the crazy dancing lights here, but we were still quite lucky to see them on the very first night we arrived and then a second time about a week later, so no complaints.
This was my first time attempting to shoot the Northern Lights and I had little astrophotography experience in general so it was a bit of a struggle at first to get good results, but through lots of trial and error you have the result seen here :)
Aurora Borealis over the Isle of Skye, Scotland.

I was experimenting using my 7D for capturing a time-lapse, I was pleasantly surprised with aurora and it worked for the time-lapse too

Experimenting with timelapse stacking - this is 61 shots stacked to create a visual of how the lights (and stars) moved during a recent show. Lots of fun to play with this technique!
The aurora over Beinn Alligin, seen from the lower Munro summit of Tom na Gruagaich. The lights of Gairloch and the western Isle of Lewis can be seen in the background.
Outside Harstad in the neighboring municipality Kvæfjord you will find Nupen, a popular viewing point to see the midnight sun! Nupen is named "Norway's most romantic place" by a recognized travel magazine.

Been a while since I posted one of these, just over a year in fact. I was a bit lazy last winter to go out borealis hunting but think that´ll change this winter, we´ll see. Taken up in Bláfjöll during a trip with my buddy Indriði.
A shot from last nights Aurora on holy Island causeway . I was gutted I could not get on to the Island for some shots the tide was still quite high . Thanks for looking
I've been keeping track of Aurora Australis activity trying to finally get a decent shot of the 'green glow'. This is about as good as it gets from mainland Australia. Would love to head down to Tazzy, or even Antarctica one day.
5 frames stitched.
Still the first day of photo tour in south of Iceland, on our way to our accomondation, there was suddenly a full blown show in the sky that made the fourth and last location of the day
A shot from the fantastic evening 17 March, 2015.
I will never forget how amazing it was to stand there under the Northern Lights.
