some Milverton area Amish girls at the sale. They must have toughened their feet up by running around at home in bare feet !! Waterloo County Old Order Mennonite boys line the bench to the right of the photo.

these Amish girls were visiting the Milverton Amish School fund-raising auction sale @2011. They came from another Amish district, (I think Lucknow) likely on one of the buses that brought many to enjoy the biggest Amish event for the Summer. This year the sale was held in Wellesley Township, Waterloo County, Ontario, near a little village called Poole. (An Old Order Mennonite lady and her daughter stand at the right in the photo.)

two "Troyer Amish" girls from the Norwich area in Oxford County.

the closest two are Old Order Amish girls from the Milverton area of Perth County, and the two further away are Old Order Mennonite girls from Waterloo County, which is where this photo was taken. Their two communities are side by side, and in a few places they overlap. (seen at the Amish school fund raising sale in July, to benefit Amish parochial schools for the Milverton district.)

at the Amish Parochial School Fund Raising Sale. Held this year in Wellesley Township, Waterloo County, Ontario. This is THE Amish and Old Order Mennonite event of the year !!!! I believe that these two men are from the Aylmer area.

Smaller straw hats similar to Dad's hat !!

An Old Order Amish Daughter and Mother watch a horse sale last July 2011. The sign says "Do Not Stand On Gates", but I'm sure the little guy on the gate can't read, let alone speak English yet. These two ladies are from the Milverton area Amish settlement of the Perth East / Wellesley area of Ontario.

Every year, in the middle of August, the largest sheep market of all Europe is held in Lairg (a small village located in Sutherland, Scotland).

The event takes place in a barn in the presence of an audience and a jury, whose foreman directs all the stages of the sale.

The flock is shown to the public and the auction sale starts when the foreman shouts the starting price of the individual animal; finally, the sheeps will go to the highest bidder.

Amish boys from the Milverton District enjoy Ice Cream and Ponies at the Horse Sale in Perth East.

an Amish girl from the Aylmer district (left) waiting for a family member. (at the Amish school fund raising sale in July, near Milverton, Ontario.) An Old Order Mennonite lady and girl are at the right, with a Milverton Amish lady peeking around towards the camera. (she's dressed in black with a white apron.)

this is how you get to know others of the opposite gender, Amish style. Old Order Mennonite boys are standing at the right in the background.

from the Milverton area in Perth East, Ontario. The lady at the bottom right is a visitor from the USA.

she is in bare feet too !! (this couple live in the Milverton - Millbank area of Perth County.)

checking out a wood stove that will be sold at the auction. (Amish School fund raising auction @2011, held this year in Wellesley Township, Waterloo County, Ontario.)

One of the Amish auctioneers in the horse ring at the Milverton School fund raising sale. (arm pointing) L to R Secretary, Announcer, Auctioneer, Runner, and Spotter. An Old Order Mennonite young man is behind them in the cap, and two Norwich "Troyer" Amish boys in the wide straw hats and longer haircuts are watching closely too.

an Amish couple, visiting the Milverton area from the Powassan Amish district. (standing) He wears a "western" style hat, as is the custom in Powassan / Chisholm Township. Old Order Mennonites are sitting in front of them, and an Amish boy from Milverton is walking behind them.

almost exactly duplicate costumes.

the Clydesdales from the farm show herd all washed, brushed and ready for the farm sale.

an Old Order Mennonite girl from Waterloo County, Ontario.

I noticed Amish people at the sale from at least 4 different areas in Ontario. There is a surprising variation in clothing and hat styles from one district to another, and this couple is just one example. Near Milverton, Perth East, Ontario.

An Amish family from an unknown area visiting the Amish School fundraising sale for the Milverton area Amish community last July. A bus load came from Lucknow to see the sale. An Amish girl from the Aylmer Amish district is at the right. There are always subtle (and sometimes very big) differences in clothing styles and head-gear between different Amish districts.

an Orthodox Mennonite man from the Wroxeter area of Huron County, Ontario. This group started growing beards like the Amish 40 years ago. They have their own unique hair style too.

Three Amish girls wandered the sale grounds pulling a small wagon loaded with 3 coolers full of cold water, pop, and juice for One Dollar each. Because it was a 90+ degree day, they sold out several times, and attracted a crowd wherever they stopped !! (at the Amish school fund raising sale in July, near Milverton, Ontario.) Several Mennonite men can be seen in the left half of the photo. Two are buying a drink.

These two girls were each carrying a young goat which they had purchased at the sale. Each goat was bleating as loudly as it could, causing the older girl to put her hand over her goat's mouth, and giving much amusement to the crowd nearby. (at the Amish School fund-raising auction sale)

2 Amish ladies, both unmarried, and look like sisters. The black prayer caps say "not married". These ladies are from the Milverton, Ontario Amish community, where "capes" are not a part of a woman's costume.

these Mennonite girls are wearing some fancy sun hats, and were taking advantage of the shade the hats provided. (it was over 90 degrees F.) That purse of the girl on the right was constantly in motion !!

very colourfully dressed little Amish girls. I expect that a can of pop is a special treat that they don't get very often at home.

Some Amish girls playing with another girl from the sale crowd. There may have been some difficulty in communication, but they seemed to be getting along well. Children can do that ! Amish children speak the German Dialect that their parents speak at home, and don't learn English until they start Grade 1 in school. Near Milverton, Ontario.

Old Order Mennonites heading towards the sale activity for the Milverton Amish school fund raising sale in Perth East. The lady in the purple on the left has a different cape pattern than those on the right, which indicates that she lives in a different church district than those on the right, who live in the Perth County / Waterloo County area.

a Mennonite mother and children walk by. This gives a little idea of the size of the sale day set-up. 40 acres of parking, machinery for sale, food and vendors in tents, horse sale area, and elbow to elbow people !!!

I believe that these young ladies are Beachy Amish from Wellesley Township in Waterloo County, the brightest dresses at the sale.

An Amish buggy maker (Creekside Carriages ~ Wayne Kipfer.) also sells horse equipment. Here is a display of his neck-yokes and double-trees for sale. A Mennonite family is on the left, manning the display. All of the employees of this Amish buggy maker in Millbank are Old Order Mennonites. (seen at the Amish School fund-raising auction @2011, in Wellesley Township.)

Two Old Order Mennonite Girls at the Amish School fund-raising auction sale @2011.

Two Amish boys keeping in step, while keeping an eye on the horse ring. (maybe those Mennonite girls caught their attention too.... !!)

Here is the place were sleeping my purple Nesso lamp from more than 40 years ...

3200 square meter full of furnitures, sculptures, lamps, sofa, desk, chair ...

All these objects were stored there for years and were regularly rented for decor of French movie and television production

Locatema company (Paris, France) has decided to stop his renting activity and has organize a first 2-day auction for a first bach of 1000 of these objects ...

I do not know in which 60-70's movie or TV series this lamp was used but looking at my next old french movies, I'm open my eyes twice ...

I found this Old Order Mennonite girl's bonnet style interesting. I hadn't seen this new style before that day.

the two girls in the left foreground are from the Milverton Amish area of Perth County, and the other girls are from the Lucknow Amish district of Huron County. Their manner of dress is very different for the female, but not so different for the males. Men's trousers are SO low-waisted in both districts that they have an impossible time keeping their shirt-tails in !!!!

"Doddy" has a firm grip on two of his grandchildren. (Old Order Mennonite)

these two Amish boys rode these sale offerings for hours before they were sold. Totally well broke and quiet animals. The one on the right sold for $1050.oo and the one on the left sold for $1150.oo

a study in contrasts. A lady attending the sale from the outside community, (left) and an Amish lady from the Milverton district. (centre) {at the Amish school fund raising sale in July, near Milverton and Wellesley, Ontario.}
