This must be a magazine that Atari put out. Amazing some of the things that I have kept.

• CIB

• Console throughly cleaned, minute detail

• Rebuilt controllers - xxx parts used - tested and function 100%, but not used

• Box in great condition, collectors will appreciate

• only flaw (this is nitpicking) faint scratch on smoked plexiglass cover

Found my first console the other night. Decided to shoot it.

I never had an Atari 2600 while growing up, but I played Atari quite a bit when I was a kid, especially games like Frogger, Superman, Donkey Kong, Space Invaders, E.T., and Galaga.

It was the system I grew up on until the video game crash of '83...and then came the Nintendo Entertainment System 2 years later in 1985. The gaming world would forever be changed.

Castle Master is a 1990 computer game written by British developers Teque Software Development and published by Incentive Software. It was released for the ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64, Amstrad CPC, Commodore Amiga, Atari ST and IBM PC.

Initially the player chooses between playing as the prince or princess. The character not chosen is then taken away by a dragon to Castle Eternity. (The location of keys and some other items differ slightly between the two characters.)

The game requires the player, through a first-person view, to explore Castle Eternity. There are riddles on many of the castle walls, which give gameplay hints. There are also keys and pentacles hidden in various locations for the player to collect. Many rooms contain spirits which attack the player

This is the all black version (no long rainbow stripe), I hear only sold in Ireland, so how I got one in Nottingham I don't know.

Atari had developed for them a new videogame system in 1984, but management changed and the bottom dropped out of the videogame market so nothing became of the 7800.... or until 1987, when Nintendo had proven that videogame systems were back. Atari had this great title to rival "Super Mario Brothers" named Scrapyard Dog... side-scroller with four waves and an end boss. But it was too little too late, Nintendo was now the leader and Atari was the also-ran.

No telling who would have won a deathmatch between Bowser and Mr. Big, I've never seen the guy. :) Scrapyard Dog was also available for the Atari Lynx handheld.

Bob brought a modified Atari 1200XL computer with a built-in CompactFlash drive. Here, he tests it out by playing text adventures. We'll have a better picture of that console later.

The paddle consists of a big spinning dial and a single button and provides you with some of the most precise controls you’ll ever find in a video game. You just can’t play games like Breakout or Kaboom without this level of control. Of course, that assumes that your paddle isn’t twitchy, like most are these days. Fortunately, that’s easy to fix, if you’re willing to perform some surgery and clean out all the gunk inside the potentiometer inside. For all the crazy controls game companies are trying with their systems these days, I’m surprised no one’s tried to bring back the spinner. It’s also worth noting that paddles came in pairs: Two paddles with a single connector. This allowed two sets of paddles to be connected at once, and two sets of paddles connected at once allowed the complete and total awesomeness called Warlords to exist. Unfortunately, there’s no indication which paddle is player 1 and which is player 2, so paddle games often started with a frantic attempt to figure out which paddle you were supposed to be using.

On Atari: Old Navy jacket, Adidas shirt, Gumballs corduroy pants and Nike Cortez sneakers.

On Marco: Moshiro hoodie, Dickies shirt, Quiksilver pants and Gola Jet rubber shoes.

Red label Klax. I am still kicking myself for not having bought the complete Arcade cabinet when I had the chance. Great arcade game. The 2600 version is OK.

One of my hobbies is collecting retro-computers, focusing on computers made by Atari. I have currently have eleven different Atari-models, three from Commodore and one other model in my collection.

This is my Atari 1040 STF, the second Atari I got. I bought it second hand in 1992 - 1993. It is upgraded to 2.5 MB RAM and it came with a Megafile 30, a harddisk with a whopping 30 MB capacity. It was my main computer for many years, I was using the other for running a BBS called "The Dark Side of the Moon".
