Taken yesterday in Norfolk,

I had taken many shots of this kingfisher yesterday at diff angles, it deff has a white tip at end of beak and does show signs of red under the bill, this is why I am saying this is a young juvenile and female.

Because the kingfisher's blue colour is created by iridescence (reflection and refraction of light within the feather) rather than by pigment, the colour appears to change in intensity, ranging from blue to green depending on the quality and angle of light that catches the plumage. The kingfisher has warm, chestnut-orange underparts, red legs, a white throat, and an orange and a white patch behind the eye. The male has a black beak, while the lower mandible of the female is partly or completely red. Juvenile birds have a black beak and darker legs for the first 3-4 months, and retain a white tip to their beak until the first winter.

the 12-24 has been mostly shelved in favour of the 50 and 90mms. so i took a chance and grabbed a setup shot for a series of products we shot today for final year assignment.

ultra-crude light tent made of 7 sheets of white chart paper supported on 4 wooden poles inserted into discarded pepsi cartons, rested on a glass sheet(only to make the surface even - not for reflections) 2 lights are used, a prolite 3500 (125ws) softbox as seen, placed at diff angles(well about 2 or 3) for different effects and different products, and a sb-26 at various angles to further lower the contrast or to provide background separation.
