I just processed this shot from a recent trip to Bryce Canyon. It is a panoramic composite of 5 shots. Yes, the night scenery was just as beautiful as shown on the photo. I love night hikes. These shots were taken while hiking at midnight on the Navajo Trail. No need to be afraid; there were plenty of astrophotographers on the trail. The aperture was 2.0. I have been trying some light painting with a warm light rather than LED. Very happy with the results. Hope everyone enjoys!

Balanced Rock is one of the most popular features of Arches National Park, situated in Grand County, Utah, United States. Balanced Rock is located next to the park's main road, at about 9.2 miles (14.8 km) from the park entrance. It is one of only a few prominent features clearly visible from the road.Wikipedia

The Eastern Veil Nebula is a large supernova remnant in the constellation Cygnus and is located at around 1470 light-years from Earth

I tried to photograph Balanced Rock at night several times. It wasn't easy. I didn't want to have just black silhouettes in the picture. Flash lights didn't work. That time when I came to trail head parking lot there was a car there. Then they left and ,probably, stopped somewhere not very far. The headlights were turned on for a while, so I had enough time to take several shots. Actually, it was very dark in the park. But every now and then I could see some lightened rocks, I guess, astrophotographers were at work.

Our very first visit to an International Dark Sky Park and the experience still left us in awe!

I recognize fully that this photo is a joke to all the astrophotographers out there! 😏

This was just a fun experience for me - been there, and done that!

"My god, it's full of stars" is a phrase associated with a scene from the 1968 Stanley Kubrick film "2001: A Space Odyssey" in which the protagonist David Bowman is traveling through the star gate created by the monolith orbiting Jupiter and the awed expression face that he gives.

Thank you for not laughing at my lack of skillset in this genre!

PS: The camera sensor picked up so many more stars than our naked eyes could see!

NGC 7635 Bubble Nebula

Distance from Earth: 11,090 light years

NGC 7635 (sometimes known as the Bubble Nebula or C 11) is a diffuse nebula visible in the constellation of Cassiopeia, towards the border with Cepheus.

It is a HII region, at the southern vertex of which there is an empty structure, caused by the pressure of the radiation of a central star of blue color (spectral class O), SAO 20575, of ninth magnitude, whose stellar wind reaches 2000 km / s; it is a blue Giant, which is also responsible for the ionization of the nebula, which emits its own light. Its distance from the Sun is estimated at 11,000 light-years.

At 9.30pm last night, despite feeling all cosy and sleepy while sitting at home in my super comfortable lounge reclining chair. I opted to drag myself off out with a good friend of mine and astrophotographer Stephen Cheatley. The destination was Grin Low Hill, a reasonable 90-minute drive from Preston where I live and the subject that I wanted to photograph was this wonderful 124-year-old Victorian folly called Solomon's Temple.

This folly is built on a raised neolithic burial mound and affords 360-degree views from the upper floor. The reason for my visit was to capture the Neowise Comet alongside it but on arrival at 11pm, the cloud had already started rolling in. I did not have long to find a decent composition, set up my Canon EOS R and my tripod and fire off some shots before the cloud completely enveloped the comet.

A handful of minutes later, the shutter release cable button clicked and the view on the LCD screen had me feel elated for the scene looked absolutely stunning. I used my headtorch to subtly light paint the folly.

For those interested, this is just one single exposure. I am delighted with the location and it was my aim to visit it a few weeks ago during the lightning storms but they failed to materialise but I shall return on the next big storm.

I hope you like the image and thanks to my good buddy Stephen for keeping me company (social distancing observed and we drove in separate cars for those interested).
