At this point, many thanks for your numerous asterisks and the nice comments. For me they are a challenge and an incentive for hopefully many more pictures on Flickr and especially in the

MacroMondays group. Thanks!

I wish everyone a happy and creative year 2021! Stay healthy!

Danke!

Canberra airport, Australia.

Just in time for the beginning of spring, I was able to capture the first butterfly macro of 2024 on the sensor. For a few days they have been flying conspicuously around the flower meadow with daffodils, squills (Blue asterisk aka Scilla) and grape hyacinths and do not let you get close to them. Things are different early in the morning because they are not yet able to fly...and if you're lucky enough to discover them by chance, which I've never managed to do so early.

Almost overnight, the beautiful star magnolias (magnolia stellata) on the grounds of the Library of Congress burst into bloom. They seem more pink than usual this year, perhaps because they had just opened. So often frost darkens them--I hope they (and I) will have better luck this year.

A young man pauses along Chicago's Lake Front Trail to consider his placement as a footnote beneath an asterisk.

Excerpt from shreinersgardens.com:

The Intermediate Bearded Iris (IB) range in height from 16" to 27", with their bloom season overlapping the Standard Dwarf Bearded and the Tall Bearded Iris. Although the IBs bloom early much like the Dwarf bearded, their height allows for their individual stalks to show more branching than the Dwarf Iris.

Intermediate Bearded Iris are ideal for container planting.

Have once again looked over the owls and was amazed how big they have already become. Last time you could just look over the beach ...!

Long does not take longer and start in the big wide world :-))

Let's hope that they will breed there again next year !!

Some asterisk blocks I've been making tonight... these things are SO much fun!

Hahahaha! Came across this quotation today and just couldn't resist.

"Everybody winds up kissing the wrong person good night." --Andy Warhol (1928-1987)

Fun Fact Du Jour: So I've been told that I have really nice lips. Okay...won't complain about that compliment. ;) Typically, I'm not one to wear intense colors but we are coming upon the holiday season ya know. And I like shaking things up with red lips and red nails. Funny thing though...both end up transferring the red pigment in some manner. Well no mas!!! I have found the perfect "lipstick."

It's actually a lip stain of some sort that remains on throughout the entire day and will not rub off. You just need to touch up the clear gloss which is on par to wearing Chapstick. I'm not one to trust these claims too easily, but guess what?!? After a trial run today and some determined experimentation--not gonna kiss and tell--it would seem that this stuff does in fact stay on. Who would've thunk?!? FYI Flickr Divas, I'm wearing Cranberry LipSense® by SeneGence®. Tiaras Up! And now, nighty night, do enjoy this fave: ♫ blip.fm/~bx226

PPS...the asterisk was created using the Chiller typeface. Love typography.

hmm... I think I was listening to DC while I made this... *checks* haha. Okay, yeah. I was. I Don't Want To Miss A Thing.

This is a portrait of the life of utopian world and the world of reality. In utopian world we can do anything as strong as our way of thinking and as strong as our utopian

whereas in the real world sometimes we are many factors that are difficult to do something . We are hindered by the material , distance , and time .

Fireflies in a plastic bag symbol of dreamland

clouds floating utopian symbol

asterisk symbol of the vastness of imagination

broken bird wings symbol of the real world

which is full of difficulties to achieve the objectives

Actually on this morning the Moon was 99% illuminated -- not quite full. This was shot at sunrise in Smith Rock State Park, where the upper walls of the basalt rock cliffs were bathed in warm sunlight and the light was creeping downward. This is Asterisk Pass, where the distinctive "Snoopy Head" rock at lower right would soon be fully illuminated.

Amy, I hope it's not too obvious, but I ran out of your kona snow and used some of my kona snow for one of the sections. It's a slightly different color and prewashed. I hope it won't be obvious once your quilt is done :)

In Port of Spain the telephone wires and power lines hang low and take over the street...i wanted to make a square 9 shots building an asterisk but ran out of film...all rotation done in camera.

Well, almost an asterisk anyway! Lots going on, on these, moss, fungi, lichens, etc. I'm lichen this shot! Hope you do too! Thanks for viewing! =o) ***All rights to my images are reserved. A nifty contrail pattern from today's west Georgia sky. The framing of trees called out for a photo.
