Nom nom nom? Anyways. I've always enjoyed grossing people out by obnoxiously eating with my mouth wide open. In my mouth are chocolate, crackers, frosted Mini-wheats, and Cheerios. Why not macro this and see the details of the chewed up food mixed with the saliva?

Shooting for a purpose

I must admit I thought the assignment wanted just the image (with no text) but I note all the others so far have text added - so I did!
The meaning is obvious, I hope. An Agency specialising in counselling services for those experiencing marriage or relationship problems.
On reflection I wish the crack was a bit narrower, but I hope the meaning is clear. :)

Rumpleteazer is one of the most beautiful cats I have ever seen. He has just as much spunk as when my mom saved him from the side of the road many years ago.
There is a color version of this in my photostream as well, but I thought the b&w highlighted the details a little more effectively for the AAW.

I downloaded a new app to my ipad called Assignment. It has wonderful ideas to get me back to and motivated to shooting more often.

My final entries for #DEDPXL01 lines assignment.
Below my building there are storage boxes and lots of pipes. Last door is to the building main water pipes. For me it looks better without the human element.
Natural light from left, mixed with indoor light spots in the main hallway. Telephoto to compress pillars shades.
Already posted this but now with some straightening.
For this assignment I decided to go with colour instead of B&W since I wanted to incorporate gels into the equation. I thought the red adds that element of impending action about to take place...
Another light or a reflector could've helped to improved background separation. Next time...

Our current (last week of Jan '12) assignment is for photos that are atmospheric; show mood. I fooled around with this photo of a crowded Green Line streetcar in all kinds of way, but rejected it. Someone doesn't like her picture taken and I don't blame her. I don't mind; really I just don't care- if you can see me I'm fair game. You will see few people on my photostream.
On a related note a woman got on at Park as this lot got off. An attractive, tall young woman, she wore low LL Bean duck boots with no socks- preppy galore! Now I am no foot fetishist by any means- I find feet disgusting- walking barefoot in the grass is an embarrassment, not a joy. Shoes, however are interesting from design, style and craft points of view. I looked at her and she glared at me like the pervert I protest I'm not- no way was I going to say a word to her.
But dammit I wanted that shot! At Haymarket someone got on and stood between us. The streetcar lurched, he leaned forward and I took my shot ...
And it was terrible. Not too blurry but her skin came out the same tone as the leather. Not good enough for me. You'll just have to imagine duck boots and no socks.

I know Joe already went with this theme for America, but it's one of the first photos I took for this assignment but wasn't sure about it. Then I noticed some details I liked and decided to go for it. SOOC, except for a little clarity enhancement.

Strobist Bootcamp II Assignment I - Headshots
She is a freelance web designer and programmer, and this headshot is supposed to go in her promotion website (she's also my girlfriend, maybe worth mentioning :P).
* Strobist info :
- Vivitar 285 with white shoot-through umbrella at camera left as key-light, slightly taller than subject's head. Dunno about power setting, just about enough ;)
- Nikon Sb28 as second light at camera right, behind subject, to give cross-light for the camera right side. Zoom at 85mm. It is turned off in her case.
- Sunpak 888afz, with 1 stop ND and cookie (laptop cooling base fan), to light (very) off-white background (I *really* should paint my living room).
Sorry about the poor quality, it's a screenshot from a webcam. This is from one of my university assignments dealing with augmented reality. The program we are using tracks markers and places an object on them in 3D space, so in reality we can't see those objects on the markers, but they are displayed on the screen exactly how it is presented in this photo. These objects are part of a demo, we didn't make them ourselves.

Assignment 52 -- Freeze action
Before the week is over, I may yet be able to get something different from my favorite action model, Po. But it's been so cold, not much is stirring, & I haven't been motivated to get out & search & experiment, so here is my tried & true. Except that using shutter priority is different for me -- my favorite action shots of my dogs have been taken in aperture priority, so there's the "stretch" -- seeing if I could make that work. This shot didn't much impress me until I tried it in B & W, where it seems to work better.
Active Assignment Weekly: June 27 - July 4: Body Parts
Your assignment is to photograph body parts. Keep the props, or clothing to a minimum and really focus in on a body part. With that said PLEASE remember the group rules and keep it clean.
Dare: Make it abstract or hard to tell what part of the body you have chosen (please refrain from the cliche arm or leg crack made to look like a butt)
Restriction: No full face or full body shots, and as stated before no naughty areas.
WIT: Struggled with this one really. Finally lassoed a willing model, and as I was taking photos of the back of his neck, I saw this shot. We were both amazed at how freckled his fingers are as shown in the shot. Taken outside in evening cloudy light. Desaturated reds and added an inverted highpass filter with soft light blending after contrast and brightness adjustments. No cropping. I know it's grainy, but so is the owner of this fist.
