The Pompeiian Popular People's Front* assemble on the seats of the large theatre in Pompeii.
The seating has been rebuilt recently (it is reckoned most of the original stone was reclaimed shortly after the eruption and the picture in our guidebook shows wooden planks in their place) - the theatre is actually used for performances now.
It's reckoned the large theatre could have held about 5000 people and probably saw many plays in Oscan, the language of the Samnites. When the area became Roman-ruled, the Samnites were the locals whose culture was very slowly edged out by that of Republican/Imperial Rome.
This was taken using the remote. The camera is resting on seat stones which carry an inscription - this is visible in the foreground. I presume this inscription is what is referred to here:
The theatre of Pompeii could accommodate 5,000 people seated in three different areas which were separated by corridors. The first (called the ima cavea) was situated in the orchestra itself and had four rows of seats which were reserved for the decurions, while the first rows of the media cavea were for the representative of the corporations: one of these was reserved for the eldest of the Holconium brothers and was identified by an inscription in bronze letters. The remaining places right up to the top part (summa cavea) were designated for the ordinary townspeople. (from here)

Well, almost fully assembled, I haven't put the handlebar tape on yet as I want to test ride it a few times first to make sure I've got the brakes in the right place.
Here you see the bike but now with the brakes added - new cables and blocks to give super stopping power.
The first test ride took place around 10 minutes after I took the photo.
I got her assembled and the foot switch plugged in. It is one of the foot switches that as long as you hold it down the saw has power. Now I have to tune it up.
