What could be more beautiful than an Aspen Grove dressed in fall colors? Taken In Grand Teton National Park near Jackson Hole, Wyoming
found this lovely aspen grove high in the Manti-LaSal National Forest along Geyser Pass. The color was close to peak in this higher elevation. Moab, Utah

Aspens usually grow in groves with an interconnected root systems. Rare to find one all alone along Last Dollar Road.
As always, thanks so much for stopping by.

It was a perfect fall day for hiking at Effigy Mounds National Monument along the Mississippi River north of Marquette, Iowa. The main trails were crowded with people trying to squeeze in a late season hike, but the we had the southern unit to ourselves as we explored for several hours.
Banff road trip hoping to catch some fall colours, the leaves were falling and i missed the full colours, but still beautiful
The Aspen trees were just nearing their peak of fall color at Bear Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado. In other areas of the park, the leaves were only beginning to change color. The leaves in the foreground, at the center, bottom edge of the picture are young Aspen trees that have not yet changed color.

Jean and I are on a trip to Aspen and Estes Park, Colorado this week. Took a wonderful hike to American Lake. Kicked our butts with about 2100 ft (700 meters) elevation gain. Not too bad in general, but we started at about 9500 ft elevation (3200m)) which has a lot less elevation than Phoenix at about 1000 ft (300m). So we noticed less oxygen. Shot up into the fall colors of the aspen trees.
A bit of sun on the apsen leaves on a mostly cloudy day in the White River National Forest of Colorado.
The spaces in an aspen grove exert a pull. One near a stand of these trees desires to enter and be amongst them, an introvert at home in a quiet gathering.
The work above ground is finished for this family for this year. Hunkered down, as we are, they will push out roots to make for new life in the spring.
I know thousands of others have this same shot, but I’ve always wanted to experience standing in a stand of Aspens and looking up to the canopy of gold against blue. Bill Bowman, it almost looks like we were standing in the same spot. Alas, we were one day and about 170 miles apart. :-)
There is something so cool about walking in an Aspen forest. Nothing seems to make sense, and theres nothing around you but this repeating pattern of trees around you. I've always had a fascination with staring at photos of Aspens - but i still don't think i've gotten that photo yet.

Happy Tree Tuesday! Take extra care to stay safe.
Thanks for stopping by and for all of your support -- I deeply appreciate it.

Capturing the falling leaves in this "shot" was an experiment. The sun was popping in and out with the wind kicking up which made it start to rain aspen leaves. Looked awesome, but catching enough in camera for impact was difficult. David Kingham said "try firing off a bunch in rapid succession and focus stack'em". Seriously I thought...but here it is. I fired off 25 shots and bam :) So there's a little trick for your toolkit this fall....
Aspen trees looking up at a dark blue sky. Sunlight seen at top middle. This is basically how the raw file looks straight out of the camera. Early morning shot.
