Castle Ashby is set in gently rolling countryside in between Wellingborough and Northampton. It is a pretty stone-built estate village with just a small number of houses, the Falcon Hotel and a small development of specialist retail outlets situated in former estate buildings. Historically the village was set up to service the needs of Castle Ashby House, the seat of the Marquess of Northampton.
Castle Ashby House, which dates from the late 17th century, has recently been passed to Earl Compton, the son of the 7th Marquess, to continue the family tradition of managing the Castle Ashby Estate.

This beautiful row of cottages in Ashby St Ledgers in Northamptonshire was designed by the notable architect Sir Edwin Lutyens, and constructed in 1908. The six thatched cottages in Main Street each have three bedrooms and were designed for Ivor Guest, Lord Wimborne. They are Grade II-listed. Sir Edwin Lutyens worked on the nearby Manor House for much of the pre-war period, extending and refurbishing it.
