Commonly known as moth orchids, is a genus of about seventy species of orchids in the family orchid. Orchids in this genus are monopodial epiphytes or lithophytes with long, coarse roots, short, leafy stems and long-lasting, flat flowers arranged in a flowering stem that often branches near the end. Orchids in this genus are native to India, China, Southeast Asia, New Guinea and Australia with the majority in Indonesia and the Philippines. A few to many, small to large, long-lasting, flat, often fragrant flowers are arranged on erect to hanging racemes or panicles. The sepals and petals are free from and spread widely apart from each other. The lateral sepals are usually larger than the dorsal sepal and the petals much wider than the sepals. The labellum is joined stiffly to the column and has three lobes. The side lobes are erect and more or less parallel to each other and the middle lobe sometimes has a pair of appendages or antennae. 21908
As you can see the bee is missing the tips of its wings. Possibly a bird tried to catch her and she escaped 😉 In any case, she was apparently too hot that day and had to take a break on my patio table 😃 This year there are more bees with us again and a greater number of species can also be observed. As far as I'm aware, not a species that breeds on the local moors. but nevertheless a fairly regular sight on spring and late summer passage. This handsome male spent a few days on the edge of the moors below Derwent Edge at the start of May.

As I mentioned in the last post Bell Rock depicted here resides next to Courthouse Butte so this shot logically follows my last, speaking of logic have a gander at the people high up on this monument. While the grey day made for a great photos it also was on the verge of rain and these intrepid climbers seem oblivious to the fact that water makes for a bad climbing buddy. This 500+ foot climb is easy going up, so much so that people find themselves in predicaments on the way down they never intended while making the climb up.
I took this on Dec 23rd, 2019 with my D750 and Tamron 24-70 f2.8 G2 Lens at 35mm, 1/40s, f10 ISO 100 processed in LR, PS +Lumenzia ,and DXO Nik

Sherrianne had asked about seeing the finished product when all were hung, so, this is it, my mini art exhibit, 3 on one wall, and 1 on the opposite wall :)

As they run, their hooves barely touch the ground. Their movements are synchronized, as if they are dancing to an invisible melody, embodying the harmony of nature. The wildflowers they pass by paint the landscape and create a delicate contrast against the lush green grass.
These beautiful Arabians are bred by a friend who had me over for a day to photograph them in the gorgeous late summer pasture. I came away with amazing images and he got photos for his breeding portfolio.

As we strolled a trail at Circle B Bar Reserve near Lakeland, Florida, we came across a group of bushes and trees that were draped in spanish moss and this Little Blue Heron was walking in it hunting for prey of some sort.
Day 1 of 20 of albums that influenced my musical tastes. I'll start with Standing on a Beach. I remember listening this CD everyday in my high school years, in my house or in my friend's room, feeding our minds with these dark sounds and some bright musical notes, creating our perfect soundtrack for the teenager.
The album was titled Staring at the Sea in CD format in some countries is the first greatest hits album by the English band the Cure, released in the United States on 15 May 1986 by Elektra Records and in the United Kingdom on 19 May 1986 by Fiction Records, marking a decade since the band's founding in 1976.
