I feel there are two kinds of people - those who love the mountains and those who don't.Thankfully I belong to the former category. The grandeur, the remoteness ,the mysterious and breathtaking beauty and the subtle challenge posed by mountains to your inner and physical strength has always fascinated me and I love going back to them again and again.:-)

Sangetsar Tso Lake near Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh.Located at around 12000 feet above sea level close to the China border, this lake is considered holy by Buddhists.Apparently this area was earlier a pine forest and the lake was located some distance away. Then an earthquake and the resulting tectonic plate shift caused the lake to move here and submerge the pine woods. The dead tree trunks that stand like eerie sentinels in the middle of this picturesque lake are remnants of the those woods. The place looks like a scene from some beautiful dream. As I stood by the edge of this lake with prayer flags fluttering above me and tiny bells put up by Buddhist pilgrims tinkling in the distance I felt as if I had been transported to some place in paradise. It was a sublime experience.

A song sequence from the Bollywood movie Koyla(1997) starring Madhuri Dixit and Shah Rukh Khan was shot here and therefore the lake is also known as Madhuri lake.
