In Metropolitan Museum, New York. This painting is 'The Penitent Magdalen' by the artist Georges de La Tour (French, Vic-sur-Seille 1593–1653 Lunéville). It is on view in Gallery 617. Interestingly, the artist is also having the same facial angle as that of the painting. If only the color of her dress was the same cream.....

Professor Robertson wants me to work on contrast this semester. Some of my pastel drawings last semester were muddy. He believes that doing three value sketches for each 18" x 24" color pastel will help me. Here's my sketchbook assignment for Module 1.0, ART 213, Advanced Projects in Drawing; Spring semester 2023, Yavapai College. Sketches done January 22, 2023.
In 1993 I stayed for 3 month in downtown New York during my study at the Royal Art Academy in Den Hague, the Netherlands. I had a Nikon F2 and I shot about 20 rolls of Kodak Tri-x films. I did not have the money to shoot more. I never have done anything with these photographs which is a real pity I think. I finally scanned in everything in a low resolution and put them on my website. Here are a couple of the low res scans (all rights reserved). I am hoping on a museum or a gallery who's interested in the series.
The first day of school, and these kids were lined up like in a doctor's office. Above them are various pieces of student art. Soon these line of hotshots will be contributing to the decorating with their works.

disclaimer - not all art students are pretentious. I myself, am an art student. Which in turn, means I am often exposed to the pretentious of our species.

Heehee, they're actually art students transporting their work to an exhibition near their campus. And in the background, the wonderful Church of Christ the King, Gordon Square.

This 1660 self-portrait by Rembrandt van Rijn is hanging in the European Paintings Gallery of the Metropolitan museum of Art. His likeness is being captured again in this 21st century view.
Note: Not my first upload of this photo. Originally, before discovering white balance and photo editing, it was titled "Earth Tones."

I’m in the quiet of the Hazlitt Holland-Hibbert Gallery in Bury Street, London, looking in towards Demonstration of Versatility – Swiss Landscape in a Scenic Style by a young David Hockney. He painted this oil on canvas around 1962 when he was a student at the Royal College of Art.
Cuba has a rich art culture. We visited the Instituto Superior de Arte. Omar, a visual arts student, was working the etching press in the studio. From Wikipedia: "Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA) was established on September 1, 1976, by the Cuban government as a school for the arts. ISA offers pre-degree and post-degree courses, as well as a wide spectrum of brief and extension courses, including preparation for Cuban and foreign professors for a degree of Doctor on Sciences in Art."
