The full contest post is here on my blog at stuckincustoms.com/2008/12/27/an-hdr-photo-contest-to-win... - so come over to follow the results, should you have a passing interest!
As you guys and gals know, I love processing photos using various HDR techniques! Many of you initially came here through my tutorial, and I know you either just like viewing the stuff, or trying it out on your own. Well I'm always trying new products and there is a new one coming out called HDR MAX. I got a preview of it and I talked with the Mark (the owner) about having a contest. I thought it sounded like fun, since many people here like playing with this stuff as much as I do! You can get a trial copy of HDR MAX here (link to Ariea) for trial and send your submissions to submissions@ariea.com. If you want to go ahead and buy it, he gave me a coupon code of "StuckInCustoms" for $20 off. I'll be sure to mention the winner that he selects in a future post!
Here are the details of the contest Mark is running:
1) Send the photos you process using HDR Max to submissions@ariea.com before January 31st 2009, 11:59pm PST
2) Winner will be decided in the following week and posted.
3) First prize gets a new 15" 2.4GHz MacBook Pro ! 2nd and 3rd prize get free copies of HDR Max
If, for fun, you'd like to post a few of your submissions below in the comments, be my guest! Also - no worries about me entering the contest - I disqualified myself! :)
I made these images below (images on the blog entry) with HDR Max and I think they came out quite nice, don't you? This first and third are from Indonesia and the second is from Montana.
(Please note that if you have questions about HDR Max or about the Contest, please post here or on my blog -- I'll ask Mark to come answer - he is better equipped to do so than me! )
Welcome to the serene and minimalist gallery space within the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA). This image captures the essence of modern art curation, showcasing a room with clean white walls and a polished wooden floor. The lighting is soft yet focused, perfectly highlighting the artworks displayed. On the left wall, you’ll notice a large abstract painting with deep green and blue hues, featuring vertical streaks that create a sense of movement and depth. It’s a piece that invites contemplation and personal interpretation, resonating differently with each viewer.
In the background, another abstract work catches the eye with its bold black lines looping across a white canvas, adding contrast and complexity to the space. This piece embodies the dynamic energy of modern art, challenging traditional boundaries and encouraging viewers to engage with its intricacies.
A simple wooden bench sits in the center, offering a spot for visitors to pause and reflect on the art around them. The bench’s unadorned design complements the gallery’s minimalist aesthetic, enhancing the overall ambiance without distracting from the artworks.
SFMOMA, a cornerstone of San Francisco’s cultural landscape, is renowned for its diverse collection of modern and contemporary art. The museum’s architecture, blending form and function, creates an inviting environment for art lovers and casual visitors alike. Each exhibit is thoughtfully curated to foster a deeper appreciation of the artistic expressions on display.
Whether you’re an avid art enthusiast or a curious passerby, SFMOMA provides a space to explore, reflect, and connect with the transformative power of art. This gallery room, with its thoughtful layout and evocative pieces, exemplifies the museum’s commitment to offering a rich and engaging art experience.
From the nostalgic window of his old house to the vibrant views through the glass of the modern museum, Ensor’s world blends art and reality, history and present-day curiosity in the heart of Oostende.
This one is for Moa, she will know why :o) She is the reigning queen of "Art Reflection"!
Ummm, my in-laws house has some swEEt mirrors!

One of the outside works at the Hayward Gallery's 'Laughter in a Foreign Language'. I really like photographs which use reflective surfaces so this had to be todays photo. If you like David Shrigley there is a whole wall of his crazy drawings
This week’s prompts from Lisa Bardot’s #makingarteveryday continues the theme of Grow, but focuses on a Sketchbook Journal of Reflection. Today’s prompt is “Past Reflections.” I’m annotating yesterday’s “spotted begonia” to share my learning.

Today I share the “star chart” of skills I’m proud of— and it’s all because of all of you!
I so appreciate each artist, teacher, course, and group in my art journey— I started with only a wish and a dream to learn a bit of art techniques, and the journey has been filled with new friends as well as new skills.
Thank you.

Venus in Textile: Ode to Creation and Beauty
This textile artwork intertwines an homage to Venus, the goddess of love and beauty, with a play of rich colors and symbolic forms. Organic lines and red accents evoke flowing energies and lifelines, while Venus’s delicate face creates a serene connection to the mythical tale of her birth from the sea. The piece invites reflection on the timeless allure and strength of feminine creativity and nature.
