John has what he hopes is a positive message for World Mental Health day.
I made my own watercolors over the weekend to use as texture! No more free ones off the inter webs!! I'm going to do a bunch of them. Someday. They take up space and time since they also take an eternity to dry omg. I get to sit around watching paint dry. Is not as fun as it sounds....

You would think I could come up with a title for this...but no.
More of Sophie the octopus, and John's morning hair. Which you can only tell is different from his usual hair by the few extra flyaways. Also, unicorn mug.

This was not supposed to be my drawing today. I had another one almost finished, that I was very happy with, of another character and did I save my progress? NO I DID NOT. Now it's gone forever.
I did the denial thing and tried to recover it, but no. So here is anger.

What am I looking at?
Michael Rawling’s Elemental Series uses traditional film combined with Found Materials at every photograph’s location to create a new way of representing the landscape.

How do you do this??
Tiny amounts of water, windfall organic and mineral samples are collected from the very landscape depicted within each picture - and chemically bonded with the film over ~12 months. The result: a developed film and unedited, printed images that are somewhere between a classic photographs & a totally abstract image, depicting the interaction between fundamental chemical elements present at each place & time, representing a more visceral and literal experience of being present in landscapes in a constant state of natural or unnatural flux.

So yesterday's date was wrong :B
I struggled with this one...I had it all planned out and pretty much redrew most of it and then hit the background stage and died a horrible death. This is supposed to be a fast drawing anyway.
So, not that you can tell, but there is actually background to this backgrounded picture. He's following that ball of light into the sub sub sub basement of a ruined building in search of magical items....either to keep and use for who-knows-what, or to sell because he's broke and needs money for things like food. And food. Mostly food.
This is actually the second time I've drawn this, believe it or not.
